My life at Millis

That sucks. Thankfully no log edits were necessary here, I just made it.

I just got parked, logged a little over 500 for the day. Not a heavy day, for sure, but productive. I fueled up in Hubbard, just inside the Ohio line. I almost took a 30 so I could shower, but it was a Love's They never have enough showers and there's always a wait. So I pushed a little further and stopped at a Pilot in Upper Sandusky. That's a great place for a shower break. They only have 100 parking spots, but they have 10 showers which means there's never a wait. Finished my day just a little west of Fort Wayne. Threw in a load of laundry when I parked since I just used up the last of my clean stuff. I decided to take 30 instead of 90/80/94. It adds 25 miles to my run, and just under an hour of run time. But, it's a beautiful road. There is never any traffic on this road, which is a very sharp contrast to the alternative. It's a fast road too, most of it is 70mph. I have plenty of time to get my load to the final on schedule even with the extra hour I added. And the extra fuel will be offset by the tolls Millis won't have to pay. Add to that the fact that this road is less traveled, which means parking is a breeze. To my fellow rookies and future drivers, remember this road. You'll thank me later. That being said, never stay on this road past Valparaiso. Once you go west of 49 it becomes a cluster####. I usually bail before that and take 421 north to hit the toll road. There are a lot of truck stops on this road, and I could have easily gone a little further. But, as far as my hours go, it won't make a difference. With the time left over from today, plus what I'm getting back tomorrow, I'm still under 11 hours left on my 70. I have two stops, so by the time the second dock is done I'll need to park. But again, hats off to Opie for smoothing out my HOS hiccup. Kept me moving and profitable. It's time to call the wife, so I need to bid you all a good evening. Peace y'all, be safe

 

There are spots, depending on where you are, that 30 is an open-access highway. In those areas, the speed will vary from 50-60. But there is a long stretch from Mansfield Ohio (where I caught 30) to approximately Van Wert where it's wide open and 70.

 

Yup, mostly. But there's a pretty good run of it that's 70. Either way, it beats the toll road
