Is there any way or kit to add an extra shock to 98' 379 Pete front suspension? I am not interested in converting to an air ride.. but additional shock would help I think

I don't know if there is a company that makes a kit for installing an extra shock. I would imagine there is, but I'm unaware. I do know that the 12 ga air ride kit comes with a fabricated plate that sits on top of the leaf spring. The U-bolts run thru the plate, over the leaf springs and secure the axle to the springs. The plate also has two mounts for shocks. There should be a photo of it somewhere in this thread.

You could call 12 ga and see if they will sell you the plates and the upper shock mount stud. You would need to design and weld something to the top of the plate for a bump stop because the factory one would be eliminated.

There are only two things, Dave can't fix or weld; a broken heart and the crack in your ###.

Can he weld aluminum. Looks like he does very good work. Have any close up of how those welds look?

I only have 2 thumbs and I'd give it 4 thumbs up if I had 2 more.

    SHC Thanks this.

Thank you. He has not done any welding on my truck yet, but yes, he is a great welder fabricator. I have been doing all the welding so far. I'm not a great welder but I'm learning. I wouldnt be proud to any pics of my welds, lol. In that photo he was using the torch and cutting off the upper shock mount frame hucks. I hate those darn frame hucks.

You are correct, it is a 5" drop axle Eaton 1320-I
The entire truck is basically body dropped. I have 22.5LP tires and the drive tires are higher than my frame by a few inches and my fifthwheel is almost even with them. I love the look of the truck, just wish I could get a smoother ride.

Here's a couple pics of it...

Not trying to hijack,, SHC look at http://www.donvel.com/ He's an ex Mercer that retired to his shop, guess you'll have to buy it on the downlow, haha.

Slammed, if you have only 3/4" of pan/axle clearance at rest, what's stopping the axle from hitting the pan when the suspension cycles, bumpstops or air up the bags?

    Nice work BTW.:yes2557:
