I already have a very low truck ( Western Star Lowmax) and it has a 8" dropped car hauler axle on it, but the front tends to "bounce" on certin types of pavement. i was looking into the 12ga airbag kit just to smooth out the ride and take some of the bounce away. Was it pretty easy to install????

You may want to try installing an additional shock on each side of the steer axle. That might take away a lot of the bounce. The 12ga kit was easy to install, it just takes time. 12ga said its a 10 hour job. I probably have 20-25 hours in it. I could see it taking 10 hours for someone who does them all the time.

Who makes the 8" drop axle in your truck, Rockwell, Eaton?

Do you know what model axle it is?

yup the low max comes with a lower suspension setup for the car hualer specs. they even told me the cab sits lower on the frame then a normal western star only if its a lowmax.

lammed: i thought the FLEX air setup would be able to be lowered the same way as the low air leaf? and your telling me no?

i know your getting alot more suspension drop then me my truck cant go anylower without changing out to a different susp setup, my truck uses the old school pancake type airbags and im as low as i can go for evening out the truck already before its riding on nothing but the airbag base.

as far as the skills to fab up i have them now lack of tools and material is a different story lol.

i want to swap to the airbags up front to go lower but my front axle wont let me due to oil pan to axle interference. i would have to swap axle or goto a smaller wheel tire combo which i dont want i like the low look while still sitting on big rubber.

I'd really like to know what kind of front axle is in SHC's truck. That would be awesome to find an 8" drop axle. I think he would find that his truck has a Meritor FF943 (The axle that I have) or an Eaton E1301I. Both of these are 5" drop axles.

The Peterbilt Low Air Leaf suspension and the Flex Air suspension ride at almost the same height. The Low air is about an inch lower, but when you dump the air in these systems, The Flex air drops about 1.5 inches and the Low air drops about 5 inches. The difference is in the style of the different suspensions, but mainly the air bags. The low air leaf has the tall bags that allow the suspension to drop a lot. The Flex has short bags that bottom out quickly.

What kind of suspension do you have on the rear?

How much clearance do you have now between the axle and the oil pan?
