I was told glass pay on everything. Including bobtailing from NLR to Iowa.

Do you have driving experience with glass on the road?

Nope. Dry Van is all I've ever done. Flatbed as a while is totally new to me.

Ok, well best of luck to you. Take it slow at first since you don't know how the wind will make your trailer react. It should be somewhat like a van, except you'll have to stop every 150 miles or three hours everyday to check securement.

After going back in around 1300 they said they would get started on it around 1400. They said they should have it all loaded and tarped by 1700. I might just stay at the Flying J in Davenport again tonight. The delivery is an 0900 delivery in Houston on Friday.

8 hours since I got here and I continue to wait. They've just now started on my load. They have about 4 of the 12 crates of glass on the trailer. I don't think I'm going to be getting very far tonight.:biggrin_25512:

Well they finally finished loading around 1900. I went in and finished tying down the tarps. I'm glad I got to do it indoors. Tying these down wouldn't have been much in the dark with 20 mph gusts and 5 degrees out. I didn't leave until 2130 when I was finally happy with how the tarps were secured.

I got a total of 13 crates. 6 of them are on a set of A Frames at the front of the trailer, the other 7 are just sitting on the deck on the back half. It was too dark to get a good picture by the time I was done so I'll take on in the morning.

Even with the long wait today I've already made more this week than I made in any week in the last 2 months of working at Schneider. I will be in Houston at 9AM Friday to deliver. I'll park at the customer Thursday night and see if they can even possibly unload me then. Most likely they'll move me over to Corsicana, TX to pick up from the Guardian plant there.

Overall it wasn't too bad. The guys here at the plant were all quite helpful. There was also a trainer here with a student who runs dedicated from this plant. They gave me suggestions on what to do.

It's weird to me to see the flat bed in the mirrors. I'm so used to seeing a van back there.

Tonight I'm staying at the BP right down the street from the plant. I had less than 30 minutes left on my 14 by the time I left. It's a nice little truck stop. They even gave me a free shower without buying fuel because I'm a Maverick Driver and we fuel here a lot.

PPG in Mt. Zion, IL is the same way. You will wait, and wait, and wait. I used to haul sand and lime in there in a hopper, and haul their exports out in the 20 foot containers. I talked to a lot of Maverick and F.A.S.T. drivers. They were NEVER happy with the place.

I'm not all that upset about it. In 3 days of actual driving I'll have 1639 paid miles. Once I'm unloaded Friday morning I'll still have all day Friday and Saturday to get miles. As long as I can get a minimum of 2000 miles a week I'm happy. More than 2000 is also good but 2k is my minimum. I should also be getting about 11 hours of detention for today along with the tarp pay. So it's not a completely wasted day, I did make a little bit, no where near as much as I could've driving though.
