Good, maybe they can do training that would teach drivers how to actually use the #### thing. I do not rely only on my GPS, but it is a vital tool in my opinion. I can easily plan routes, see what's ahead on the highway without having to stop and flip through a book, see about how many total hours a long trip is, and it is vital at getting directions to a customer after you're in city limits, because I refuse to write down directions onto paper and be trying to read those while in city traffic. But you CANNOT use the GPS alone, or you'll screw yourself royally.

And, even if I wasn't using it for those other things, it's the only way I have to accurately determine what speed I'm traveling.

I agree. I love mine AS A TOOL, not as my only way of guidance. If its an area I haven't been to before or in a while, I still break out the good ole atlas.

Not too sure why appointment times at Pilkington in Laurinburg even exist. I got here at 1800 for an 1830 appointment. Almost 2000 now and they still aren't even close to starting on my load yet. Meanwhile they are taking a 10 minute break once an hour because moving that crane sure is hard work.

I think they should require at least 1-2 weeks with a trainer for glass if a person has never done it. I didn't go with one and I regretted it on my first load. I didn't have a clue what I was doing because the training they provide for glass in NLR isn't all that great.

Even for the experienced flatbedders I still think one week of glass training OTR would be helpful.

Got back to my truck with plenty of time to make it to my pickup. Went to start it up and it won't crank. Batteries are dead. Now I'm sitting here waiting for FleetNet to call me back with information on the jump.

Haha, did we forget to shut off the main power while on hometime? I did that once and my batts BARELY had enough power to start the truck. It's an easy thing to forget, especially for guys like me that are out for 3 weeks and ready to get the heck out of the truck when they go home lol.

I plug mine up while I'm home....leave the Park Smart running with the thermostat set to about 72 degrees...the cooler stays cool, the batteries stay charged...and all is well.
