OK, so who pays that late fee? May or the driver? If it's charged to the driver, that's a pretty big percentage of a $900 load.
May paid it. They put the money on my comdata card and I made a check out for the late fee, got a PO #, submitted the receipt and and I didn't lose even a penny.
Week 13 Aug 17th - Aug 23rd This week started out with finishing up our 4 stop load in Anniston, AL. Got there a day early and made our last drop. After unloading, we were able to stay overnight right outside the gate on the street. The next morning we got a load from Atlanta back to Denver to solo out the student. The load didn't pick up until Friday morning, so that kinda sucked. Friday morning we headed into Mead Packaging and we had to wait for our trailer to get loaded. Usually they are pre-loaded, but not this one. If we had got there 10 min earlier, we could of had them load our new refer, but they already had an old Thermoking in the door. #### it After the trailer got loaded we headed up to the Pilot in Atlanta, and I knew that we should of skipped it, but I got setup for a scale there. Anyone who knows that Pilot, know that it is small. Well we pull in and go for the scale, but there is a Sysco truck parked in front of the scale unloading product for Wendy's. Why are they doing this in the middle of the day and not at night is beyond me. We waited for 25 minutes and finally said screw it. Got setup for a scale up north on 75. That night we ended up in Mt. Vernon, IL at the Pilot and stopped for the night. The next day found us making our way through St. Louis. Right as we hit the rest area outside St. Louis, we swap and the trailer blows a tire. We limped into the Flying J around 189ish and waited for the tire repair. After 2.5 hours, we got going again and ended the night in Colby, KS at the Bosselman Pilot. Sunday morning we made our way into Denver and stopped at the yard. Monday morning we delivered our load at Coke and headed back to the yard for my student to solo out. Monday ends with him solo'ing and me sitting in Denver waiting for a load Tuesday morning I get a load out of Coors to drop in Layton. Not a bad week at all, not super great, but not bad. Week #14 Aug 24th - Aug 30th This week starts out with a service being done on my truck Wednesday morning. I get a load that evening that needs to be dropped in Denver. I make it to Rawlins and call it a night. Thursday morning I end up in Denver around 1100 and drop my trailer. I end up going home until Monday morning for home time and for my Dad's birthday. Monday morning I grab a trailer headed to Bessemer, AL that delivers on Wednesday morning. Not a big week, but I got my truck serviced and had 3 days off. Miles This Week: Miles Driven: 551 Miles Paid: 520 Miles Difference: 31 or 5.6% Miles Total: Miles Driven: 28676 Miles Paid: 27746 Miles Difference: 930 or 3.2%
So, you are averaging 1,981 miles a week? At .30 cents per mile that's $594.30 per week. Are you happy with that? Also, you have been shorted 930 miles or $279.00. Are you happy with that?
I have had good weeks and bad weeks. Its been a slower summer for me. I have talked with others who have had a busy busy summer as well. Do I wish I had more miles, yes. I prefer to stay busy. I have talked with my DM about my low miles and hopefully things change. I never really did realize how slow it has been until I started keeping track. With the shortage of miles, that is typical of being paid practical miles. I would have a bigger disparity if I had not challenged some trips. I did just hit my 2.5 year mark so that puts me at .355 cents per mile as well. All in all, I enjoy working with May Trucking. If I did not, I would not of stayed here 2.5 years. I am just hoping this a slow period and that things will change.
Right on. I didn't realize you have been there over 2 years. Practical miles pay is a scam, in my humble opinion
