so now I can go with a 2000 W inverter with May? I am not looking at any other companies I am just going to go back to may.... also in the scheme of things I didn't drive that long. so does anyone have any suggestions when your sitting waiting for a load..... about watching tv etc where you wont drain your batteries? on two seperate occasions I had to get jumped off..... talk about embarrasing..

If you get a Pete it has a protection circuit built in that will shut off if the batteries get to low on charge.

The prostars will shut down everything but the inverter but if you have a fan blasted on you and it stops you'll know.

I had a dorm fridge, a 12v fan, a fan plugged into the inverter and my cell phone charger and it would shut down in about 7hrs.

Almost every trip.I am 50 miles less than actual miles driven, example this last load showed 1500 miles from pick up to deliver, actual miles driven was 1501, they sent earnings at 1413 miles, I responded not correct, they countered w 1448 miles. Difference of 50 miles.

I hope to be one of those joining the trucker ranks "later in life" and I guess I'm going to find out what kind of adventure I've gotten myself into. After spending the past 30 years in various mid-management jobs, I believe that this is going to be a very challenging but rewarding change. I'll let you know if the awakening becomes rude. By the way, I hope to pre-hire with May out of Phx as I'm going through AIT starting Monday. Wish me luck!

If your kids are grown and the wife's okay with it, you'll do fine. Been there, doing it now, no tee-shirt. . . but I did get a hat.)

    Week #11
    Aug 3rd - Aug 9th

This week finds me at home until Monday the 8th. I got a call from my DM with news that I am to take a student out again. There goes 2 months by myself. It got so nice. Oh well, back to work :) I asked my DM to get me to Brooks so I can get my refrigerator installed that I got for my truck.

Meet up with my student Monday morning with a load from Coors going to Portland. We had a very easy trip up and we are to deliver the load Wednesday morning.

    Miles This Week:

    Miles Difference: 0

    Miles Total:

    Week #12
    Aug 10th - Aug 16th

Wednesday morning we made our way to Columbia Distributing in Portland, OR to deliver our load of beer. I was really hoping the last pallet didn't tip over since coors loaded it sideways and didn't put any dunnage in there to hold it upright. Opened up the doors and it didn't tip too far. They accepted the whole load so no problems for us. After delivery we got the okay to head to Brooks. Once we got to Brooks I got with the body shop and Frank helped me install my fridge. What a real nice guy. Once we got it in the hole in the cabinet, I had to go to the trailer shop to get two hubs looked at as they were leaking. The guy tightened up some bolts and that seemed to fix the problem. No load Wednseday night so we called it a night.

Thursday morning we headed across the street for breakfast. Half way through eating, I get a call from my DM. You have a load that Picks up at 0700 in Salem with 3 extra stops going to Mississippi and Alabama. 2900+ miles. Sweet. Only thing is, she calls me with it at 0800 :( So I am already late. Sometimes I wish the load planners would just give a friendly call especially when they know that our DM's are not in the office yet. If I had known, I would of been there on time. So now, its a $250 late fee. Gotta love Americold. So we get there around 0930 and get loaded relatively quickly for a work-in. That night we made it to the Pilot in Stanfield, OR and called it a night. The next day we get to Layton and I met up with a buddy of mine who used to drive for May that lives in Salt Lake. Friday night found us in Big Springs, NE at the Bosselman. Sunday we ended up taking a detour from York, NE to Salina, KS down US-81 since parts of i-29 are closed in Northern Iowa/Southern Missouri due to the Missouri river flood. The detour is what Nebraska DOT recommended, we get the okay and end the night in Booneville, MO at the Pilot. Monday night we made it into West Memphis, AR. I know that this is not the best place to park for the night, but it is 10 min from our first stop in Mississippi, plus they have idle aire. I have some how managed to keep my over idle under 3% for this week. It really helps not being in the south. Tuesday morning we make our first stop and no problems there. Next stop is in New Albany, MS at a Wal-Mart DC. After that stop we made our way to Jackson, MS for our next stop Wednesday morning.

This week is going to look low for miles, only because I didn't write down specific miles driven on Tuesday night. I cannot remember what they were, so I am onyl posting the trip that I got paid for this week.

    Miles This Week:
    Miles Driven: 1284
    Miles Paid: 1244
    Miles Difference: 40 or 3.1%

    Miles Total:
    Miles Driven: 23062
    Miles Paid: 22292
    Miles Difference: 770 or 3.3%
