I have never heard so much crapola in one statement in all of my life. Get something clear... none of the big companies care what you want. You will get what they offer and nothing more. There is no match making, no personality matching, lo good night kisses. Drive boy, that's what you were hired for. If you don't behave like a good slave there is another in line right behind you. In somewhat nicer words, get tough or stay home.
These mentors are not special. They were simply the drivers that raised their hands to earn a little more money. Many are toothless goofballs that are more interested in taking advantage of the trainee than they are actually training. Some are just know-it-alls that can't wait to tell or show the trainee how stupid they are. I know there are some good trainers out there. But from what I've seen they are both already busy with students.

Hey Lost,
Watch him end up with a Pamela Anderson look-a-like !!!!!! -
I'd rather end up with a Megan Fox look-a-like. But...I have no such luck.
LostSoul: It isn't crap at all. At TMC, they actually match you up based on a personality test. Head over to the TMC subforum and you'll see for yourself...jtrnr1951 Thanks this. -
Maybe they can talk one into wearing a dress and heels for you !

Okay...since the Admins decided to consolidate my individual unrelated threads, I'm just going to use the blog feature and when I post a new blog, I'll advise here with a link.
jtrnr1951 Thanks this. -
No, it's crap. I went thru TMC's orientation and made it two weeks on the trainers truck. I can verify there was no "personality test". There is a questionaire asking preferences as far as male or female and smoker/nonsmoker and also some basic interests and hobbies, but no actual personality test. I ended up with a non smoking male, but beyond that there was no personality match at all. Although we did have completely different interests, we did manage to get along ok, no major personality conflicts to speak of. -
Okay. I've setup my blog and made several entries.

"My Highway 20 Ride" is a suitable name for it. I'll be based out of Atlanta and I can see myself riding the 20 a lot. If you know the song, then you can duduce the other potential reasons for the name... -
As far as which terminal for home one? I'd choose Atlanta simply for the freight numbers. A lot of times, it can be hard to gather loads out of Florida so once you get down there, you might get stuck down there. The Atlanta terminal is a good hub to operate out of. -
Grashopper I hope you are spending some time CYA in case for some silly reason Swift at the last minute pulls the plug. You don't get hired until the 3rd day of orientation. A recruiter's word and a $1.50 will get you a cup of coffee.
Read my sig! Learn from my experience. You have too much riding on somebodies whim. Recruiters are over worked, and scrambled in their organizational skills in many instances. I had my orientation cancelled once over something silly. It took me 5 days to get my documents to the recruiter to get me back on the list.
If you think it can't happen to you? I have a bridge in Brooklyn I want to sell............road dust Thanks this. -
BTW there is an extreme shortage of mentors right now! That came over the Qualcom. They fired a buch recently. Not doing their job right.
You might sit at home for a couple of weeks waiting for a mentor.road dust Thanks this.
