les2, are you saying basically that you feel MB doesn't do anything to improve mpg?

What I am saying is his gains could be from the way he is driving...

Besides I already post in another thread about a guy who did the MB thing on his trucks that had drivers in them. The drivers knew nothing of what had been done. At first he showed a gain, but then it dropped off right back to normal. At the time he was less than impressed, especial since he was out a good bit of money. Several people posted a million different excuses as to why his trucks didn't continue to see improvements, so he tried a few different things that were suggested, no improvement last time I check his blog, which has been a month or so.

Another thing to consider even if MB did gain him 0.02mpg is the year it would take to make your money back. Alot of things can happen in a years time.

I hear what your saying but you or anyone should never rely on one persons concept... I have faith in the MB technology and I have heard of many owners stating thay have made gains in fuel economy once they replaced all bearings with MB, than trans and rears, than on and on... I will continue to look into it though...

Don't suppose replacing old bearings with new bearings had anything to do with the fuel mileage "gains" do you? Everyone is quick to give credit to MB and never consider that any gain could be credited to simply new bearings.

I left mooresville nc Friday night at about 8 pm when they finished my trailer bearings. I delivered in toronto on at 10 am. I had to boot it. 70-75 mph. Drove harder than I normally do.

The only good about MB is if you had a catastrophic loss of oil the bearings will run a bit longer before seizing up. Same as coating with PTFE.

In the practical world of work trucks, just changing to synth oil from dino will give you more gains compared to putting some coating on your bearings.

How do they disassemble bearing cages so they can micro-polish them? I'd think they do more harm than good messing around with them.

An easy test that can be done to prove whether or not the MB bearings actually benefit fuel consumption would be to measure the temperature of the axle at the bearing races while loaded and running at a set speed. Put MB bearings on one axle, and 'regular' bearings on the other. If the MB bearings run cooler, then there is some benefit. Any energy wasted by the 'regular' bearings must be dissipated as heat, and therefore easily detectable and measurable.

So how do explain the gains from the tranny and rear ends being MB treated?
