Hey Baritone I was reading on the aviry Stevens thread, and seen you thinking of working down here with them. Texas that is, I'm in Waco. Man after reading that whole thread smokr, and the rest of those guys sure have a great attitude. For the pay during training 1 & 2 then grad training, the amount $ being taken out for schooling. Man those guys seem to be making just enough $ to eat and live out of their truck. God bless them and all but jisshh. Stevens dont really seem to be treating them very well. I know you have to pay your dues 1st year or so, but seems you may have made a better choice. I'm to go to a Certified school here by the house soon, and have been looking at all these threads about 6 weeks now. They all have their drawbacks, but I have to make a decision to go somewhere. Millis seems to have what I'm wanting in a company starting out. Apu, man Igot to have A\C to sleep 100+ here 4-5 months a year, shoot can't sweat and sleep, w\ companys not wanting idle. Do you or any of you other fellows on here know if Millis hires rookies that attend schools other then their own. And how bout an old Fire Sprinkler Fitter looking to change cariers. Since construction is in the dirt, and I'm sick of it after 22 yrs, them young ons can have it. I'm only 70 miles south of Ft.Worth, and I use to service the sprinkler system in that Owens Ill glass plant, just 15 min from the house. Be a good one to get me hometime and maybe keep yall from having to traveling to hell and back . I would appreciate any feed back from yall. And ou yea HOOK'EM HORNS! Hope that dont piss yall off or nothing, not really. Thanks, Jones

Baritone,
I am getting ready to go to training with Millis in August. Some questions for you if you don't mind:
How much in dollars is the promissory note that you have to pay back to Millis?
How often and how much did you get paid for training - your 5-6 weeks out on the road with your trainer?
Where do you take showers? Are they free? Is it clean?
Is it possible to eat healthy and not all the junk that is at truck stops? No greasy food.
How do you get your bills paid when out on the road?
Where do you do laundry?
Are you allowed to drive your truck - lets say to Wal-Mart - and buy some groceries and/or other necessities?
Do you have a driver manager? Is he or she nice and receptive to you?
What do you do in your down time - when not driving - but, I assume, at a truck stop.
How do you keep cool when you are in the sleeper berth and it is hot outside?
Thanks for your help. -
I answered the best I can below.......let me know if you have any more.
Zangief, olsprnklrftr and Rooster7 Thank this. -
Check out the post to Rooster - that should answer the question about A/C. As far school - you have to go through their school or have a certain amount of experience. Call the recruiters - they'll explain it all to you.
Good Luck!olsprnklrftr Thanks this. -
Just got a call from Millis today from a recruiter. Going to see whats good with them tomorrow!!

Hey rooster7,
When and where are you training for Millis?
Myself, I'll be in Richfield on Aug.23rd. -
Not going to be going with Millis because of the whole student program there. I am already a CDL holder and have been for 5 years. I just dont have any exp. over the past 4 years. I am currently in a CDL program that I am taking as a refresher but Millis said that does not help I still have to pay the 2500 and go through theres.

Hey Everyone - just now finding time to post. Been running hard the past two weeks since going solo.
First week spent most of my time between Ohio and New York. Didnt think I would ever get out of that area. But got some good miles out of it.
Since then have been running even harder. Finished a load from Buffalo to Atlanta and then turned right around and grabbed a 3 stop load going to Upstate WI.
Finished the 3 stop load today and now taking a small run so I can stop in Black River and finally get my inverter installed.
Hope everyone is well!
Spanky - I think I passed you in IL yesterday.Hitman Thanks this.
