Day 7 is now in the books.

Did my pre-trip this morning and did really well. Still have to work on the air leakage rates and ensure I have them correct. Spent the first part of today again working on backing and blind side moves.

After lunch we hit the road for the first time pulling a trailer made a 3 hr road trip towards Knoxville TN allowing everyone to drive. Stopped at a Love's in TN and did my first back in with trucks around. I can only imagine the looks I must have gotten backing in a truck and trailer with "student driver" written all over it. I bet the cb chatter was a flyin! One guy walked up to the truck and wanted to look it over since he's never seen a 4 door T2000. He was "in awe" but was also more than willing to share some stories with us newbies. Good day over all and growing more comfortable with a trailer than I thought I would be. Didnt realize the differences there would be having a trailer on. Much smoother than bobtail.

Tomorrow we are heading out early and heading towards Alabama for a day long drive. Should be able to get some good drive time again.

You are to get your permit in the state you live before coming to training. Once out with my trainer (when he and I feel I am ready) he will take me to Ky to take my cdl test.

    Mrgreen09 Thanks this.

Baritone - I have a question for you. When you have been away at training, and even more so when you go OTR with your trainer for 5-7 weeks after school, how have and will you be able to handle things back home? For example - mail - you open it up, get a bill, pay it, and mail it back. Do you leave your home empty, or have someone watch it while you are away? How do you get all your bills paid when you are away? I'm thinking if it was me - how do you pay electric, water, gas, rent, car, insurance, etc. while you are away from home? Any input would be great. Thanks.

You are now able to make "automatic payment" for gas, electric etc. You just set it up with the company and provide the routing number from your checking account, and your payment will be automatically deducted from your account on the day that it is due. I'm not a driver, but have it set up for all my utilitys and truck payment and haven't yet, but can set it up for insurance. Not sure about rent. I own a home with no mortgage, but had my mortgage set up also when I did have one. It's great because you are never late for a payment. You just have to remember to deduct it from your balance in your checkbook.

You know when and how much rent is then just make sure you send that check on the right day. Mail it out from the road. Like hitman said most of the other items you can make a scheduled payment to have it paid on a certain day each month.

Most places you can go online to make your payment too. If you don't like it taken out automatically. If you are running with at laptop that might be an option.
