Sorry about the HJ. Did start a new thread for that very reason. Thanks to all the posters on this thread. You guys may never realize how influential ya'll have been to the many people that don't wish to just "settle". Hopefully, all the Millis newbs that follow can and will maintain the ethic and integrity that ya'll have shown. Thanks

Wow - it seems like forever since I posted an update. Time is just flying by these days.
Seem to be sitting a little more of late but still running decent miles each week so I am not complaining. I am at least able to keep up on laundry and crap with having a little down time some days.
I have been running from Alabama to NY a lot lately. Seems to be stuck on one customer these last 4 or 5 loads. Got the "can you do me a favor" message and of course I do those favors as they always net me good runs afterwards. The customer had a last minute order and it had to get there overnight. So I took the load since I had the hours and ran it from Saratoga Springs NY to Martinsville WV for a 8AM delivery. Made it with plenty of time to spare.
Only bad thing about taking a night run is you tend to get stuck in that rutt. I ended up running overnights for about a week after that. Some guys like running overnight - but it's much harder for me to see as good so I perfer the daytime. But you do what you have too. I will say this - running through Chicago at 55 MPH and never having to stop is well worth driving overnight for.
Been having issues with my truck spitting out the oil cap ( I guess it doesnt like that one) It keeps building back pressure and blowing the cap off and then spraying oil everywhere. It's happened three times now and I could seem to get to a shop to get it looked at.
Finally once I unloaded in Pewaukee, WI at 3:30am Wednesday morning - I sent a message to dispatch that I needed to get to Richfield to get it looked at. They ended up replacing a few things as as finally getting one of my drives replaced and a light replaced - I was ready to roll at 1PM.
Sent a message to my dispatcher letting him know it was fixed but was up against my 70 so I wouldnt get back any hrs until after midnight. Most likely wont get a load that late so I stayed up and then went to bed at a normal time so I could get back on more of a day time schedule.
Sat around on Wednesday and talked to other drivers and some of the trainees - great conversations and stories! Still get the drivers that are complaining about hrs. It's funny - I never have to deal with that for the most part - not sure why they do. I stay busy but I dont screw off either. There's a time for that.
This morning I hit "ready for dispatch" at 5am and with in a few minutes had a load. Another paper load going from Richfield to Cherokee, AL AGAIN! It had a delivery time of 5am on Friday. No way I could make that with my hrs so I let my dispatcher know. Got a message to drive safe and changed the delivery to 10am on Friday - that I can do and off I went.
Any trainees reading this - make your pickup and delivers on time and you'll get miles for the most part. Dont always listen to the whinners - they are also the ones that are late and dont take loads when sent to them for one reason or another. Do your job and you'll stay busy.
Now sitting at the Pilot in Hayti, MO. Just made some dinner in the truck and catching up on E-mails with a nice cup of coffee.
Be safe out there and stay warm! -
Baritone, I love reading your progress. It is really an encouragement. Be safe and I look forward to meeting you one day.

Baritone saw you in Richfield last night, but it looked like you went to bed. Got up at 7 this morning and you were gone. So HI! lol. I was down at Cherokee last weekend. Sat at Arnolds Truck stop for our reset. We picked up a load for PA out of Richfeild that delivers on Monday, which means HOMETIME WOOHOO! I drove from Richfiled to Columbus, got in my pick-up and drove upto Toledo. My girlfriend thinks I'm in PA. She will be surprised when she gets home from work. See ya all on the road soon.

Just kidding man, enjoy your hometime. -

Has been bring me every toy he has to play with him lol. If Millis had a pet rider policy I would stay out for a month at a time lol.

Baritone,
I enjoy and learn reading your posts. Take care and be safe! -
Either that or you will have a surprise when you get home! -
lol, no surprise. God have mercy on the guy if I did come home to that. But I do trust her.

I have visited several trucker forums and this is about the only one that keeps it clean and positive. Baritone, you and I are the same age and other than having a wife we are both empty nesters. I have really enjoyed your travels, didn't read them all from the beginning but came across it while looking up Millis. I've had my CDL for about three years now and driving full time just shy of two. Looking to move on at the end of the year as the company is closing the doors, had my sights on Roehl, but keep reading about all the trouble there. Your a refreshing porthole into Millis and I may give them a call, but not sure they are any different than any other company out there. Looking to be out 18 day's and home 4 with Roehl. Is home time reasonable at Millis? Looks like they have nice equipment, at least it sounds better than what I have been reading about at Roehl. Just like everyone out there, I just want to be treated fair. Any feed back is appreciated. Sorry in advance if this should have had it's own thread.
