CM - once you pass your Physical then you're all good. No other test except for a drug test that will take place during orientation after you pass training.
Shorts are no problem - the trainer wore them every day as did most of us. You will love Greg and he is an awesome trainer. You'll get to eat at some great little "out of the way places" when you drive with him. He knows them all through-out GA and Alabama.
The new T2000 and the white Freightliner have great A/C units in them - just watch the older burgandy Freightliner as the A/C in that one doesnt work very well.
Also - you'll be at the Holiday Inn about 1 exit away from the yard. There is a free breakfast buffett each morning (but beware - it's horrible) but the beds are awesome.
Let me know if you have any more questions - and good luck to you!

Good Info. Baritone,
I see by your profile that You, like myself have a few Years on the youngsters ! I'm hoping that driving is the answer for me, I find myself (unexpextedly) needing a better paycheck than Walmart can provide right now. Seems like Millis has a lot of good posts here ( among the normal amount of naysayers). Hope You find what you are looking for there..and will continue to follow your posts..so keep em' coming ! -
Yea I have a few years on my old frame and many on the other students in my class but it works well. I keep them in line and they keep me laughing all day so it works.
I made this change due to being in corporate america for 23+ years and have had enough. My sons are on their own and two are away at college so all they need from me is access to my ATM card LOL! So it's a great time for me to do this so I made the jump.
For me - I always thought to myself - "how hard could this job be" - man was I wrong and I have all the respect in the world for these guys now. Naviating 73 feet through a small town, on and off highways and backing has really opened my eyes!
Be positive, be open to listening to the experienced drivers you will meet and roll on - I am having a blast! -
hey baritone dont worry about hitting the curb your going to do it just dont do it when you are testing out with millis or the dot. i know in tennessee if you hit a curb they will fail you for it. i did end up in cartersville last friday but it was at 3 in the morning as i was on my way home and you all were not there yet. if i get back through end of this week or first of next week i will try to let you know a head of time. good luck and have fun

Thanks Spanky - Greg pretty much said he same thing. I really just rolled over it as the turn was too sharp in downtown Marietta during a detour. It's coming together - but man am I still very nervous in heavy traffice and such. But as they - in time that will get better. I sure hope so!
I look forward to meeting you one day soon. -
Well our last outing was a night drive. We made our way all over NE Georgia but never touched a single Interstate. All was done on two lane back roads with hills and a lot of traffic.
Let me say - driving at night was a true "eye opener"! Not to mention when I my turn came, it started to pour! But I guess if you can manage in all of that - a sunny day will be a peice of cake.
Still seem to struggle with my downshifting. I am good from on the high side, it's just getting me trying to move to the low side. But as I keep hearing from the trainer - it will come just keep working at it.
We called it a night about 3am and were back at the yard this morning at 10AM.
Today we cleaned the older trucks we used for the last 3 weeks and then did a complete clean of the T2000. We made sure we left it in perfect condition and not a speck of dirt. We even cleaned the carpet inside to ensure we "gave a little back" to our trainer for taking such good care of us.
We received our handbooks, logs, rules and our company shirts and hat. Millis gives you 5 company shirts and asks that you wear them during deliveries and pick-ups.
The next three days will include the drug test, payroll set up and more stafety videos (oh boy)!
Have a great weekend everyone Here are a few more pics from the night drive and cleaning up today. -

Hey Baritone that looks like our truck. Good Luck man!

Yea - I think each location has one. Hey is Woody helping your class? If so tell him David (from the Cartersville class) said hello! Woody's a class act just like the rest of them.

only cartersville and richfield have the t2000s trenton i believe has a freightliner century. one of the t2000 was a road tractor that got laid over on its side and instead of fixing it back for the road they just put a whole new cab on it they ordered. the other one was a extra truck they had that use to stay in black river and they just put a new cab on it also
