Well got hooked up with my trainer finally and got a load from Trenton OH to Tampa FL. Big difference in a T660 vs. the T2000 from training but shouldnt take long to adjust.
Let's roll! -
Just wanted to add an update - been with my trainer for almost a week now. Great trainer and really learning a lot. Doing most of the driving and all the backing and parking. Get much more comfortable each day.
So far we have had two runs....1st was Trenton Oh to Tampa FL then DH to Albany GA for a load that went to Blue Anchor NJ. Then DH to Mountain Top PA for a load that is to deliver in Wisconsin on Friday afternoon with two stops. Have had a pre-plan with in minutes from hitting the "unloaded" code. My trainer has e-logs but I am still keeping mine on paper.
Loving it more each day and really am shocked at what I thought I knew - boy was I wrong. Learning something new each day. Time for bed - my 10 hr break is up at 530am and need to be rolling by right after I do the pre-trip.
Take care and I'll update soon!Skydivedavec Thanks this. -
good ####, i was supposed to attend millis but i have too many tickets on my record...im gettin my tickets expunged off my record then im a re-apply again...they seem like a good company, havent heard any bad news.... i be on the road monday wit my sister's father, he owns his own truck n trailer so i be helpin him drive in the meantime until i get my license
-
How are you going to help him drive if you don't have a CDL?
-
all he really needs is a permit with a cdl licensed driver
-
I have my c.d.l permit, i been had it for about6-7months,& mine doesnt expire till november this year. I got it while i was working at pepsi and thats where i learned how to drive a semi at, but i got fired before i could take my c.d.l test with there truck to get my license, so im gonna roll with him for a while and then make a another appointment to take my test. Driving is not a issue i have more than 4months of driving at pepsi, they allowed me to drive with the bulk drivers on my days off. He was a instructor before he bought his truck so he still has all the papers at home for the pre-trip etc.....im still considering millis though..lol....but im reading your post everyday good luck with everything...gotta get sum rest now, we loading in chicago heights 2mar morning and heading to mississippi tommorow

Continues to be a busy time.......... DH to Albany GA from Tampa and got a load of beer going to Blue Anchor NJ. Man driving through D.C and Philly traffic was sure an "eye opener" in a truck, but also great experience.
Once we delivered in NJ got a pre-plan for a load from Mountain Top, PA going to Minn, MN. Didnt have the hours to make the delivery time so did a repower in Taledo. Grabbed the empty and picked up more beer in Trenton, OH going to Green Bay, WI.
Once we delivered in GB - grabbed a paper load from GB to Lawrenceburg, TN. Delivered that yesterday. Dock was on an uphill slop with a 6 foot drop off on the right side. But got it in there without too much trouble.
As soon as I sent the "unloaded" message - got a pre-plan to DH to Decator, AL to grab a load of Meow Mix cat food - running to Columbus, OH.
Sitting in a Pilot just outside of Knoxville - so my trainer can run home and grab so meds and personal stuff. Then rolling to Oh!
Will update again when I can...........1 week down - 4 more to go! -
Does Millis take former drivers that want to come back to trucking but need a refresher course? I'd be willing to pay for the school. It sounds like a great company from what I have read here.
-
Yes they do. We have a few former drivers. You would just go thru the school and would have to go out with a trainer.
