Got some things done to the truck this weekend!
First, got that UGLY blue steering wheel replaced with my nice new wood grain one.
Next, I replaced the speakers in the cab of the truck with some Rockford Fosgate Punch speakers. For little 4x6 speakers, these things PUMP! Very happy.
Next, I installed the CB power cable.
Then I replaced all of the gauge lights with higher quality blue LED's than what was previously in it. Now they all match! The picture shows them much differently than they actually look in person.
Finally, I started to polish the drive wheels. I only got 2/4 done today, will do the other two tomorrow. Here is a before and after picture!
After
That's about it for now! The hood is coming off this week to get painted, and it's going in the shop to have the power take off installed and the fifth wheel rebuilt!

Got a couple things done this weekend!
The drive wheels that I polished got re-installed on the truck, and I also put the hub covers and lug nut covers on! Very happy with how these turned out. They look brand new!
Also polished the front wheels! These weren't bad at all to begin with, took about 30 minutes a wheel.

And this is the current status of the truck! Hood is being painted, obviously the wheels are off so I could polish them.
Hopefully it goes in the shop this week for the PTO, we are currently waiting for my Dad to find a PTO for this truck. We also have to have a custom oil tank made, I am thinking my dad is going to have a tank made that looks like a tool box with steps. It should look pretty neat when it's all said and done!

This week I hauled a load of paper out of International Paper in Cedar Rapids, IA. I thought I'd take a pic because these rolls are HUGE! 6,400lbs per roll, only 7 are in the trailer. They are about a foot from the ceiling!
That's all for now folks! -
Dad called me today and said the guy who is building the hydraulic oil tank has all the supplies and is ready to start building it! Now we are just waiting on the pump and PTO.
I mentioned earlier that the fifth wheel is going to be rebuilt, well now my Dad is contemplating just replacing it. So one of those two things will be getting done this or next week (hopefully!)
I *should* be driving this truck in 3 or 4 weeks, hopefully! I'm okay with driving this Cascadia in the meantime though, it's very smooth and spacious! -
Just my .02 on your blue lighted gauges. I would run a brighter light on the water temperature and oil pressure gauges. Those to guages are key to keeping your engine alive along with the pyro, so you want to make sure you can read them clearly .I did the same thing you did but learned from the veterans when I was green about that.
@SmokinCAT had posted some cool gauges he pick up from summit racing if I recall correctly, there where colored blue similar like you have But standed out brighter.Samuel Coyne Thanks this. -
Like I said, these gauges look much better and clearer in person. I will have no problem seeing them at night! I sat in the truck at 1 in the morning and I could see them perfectly.
The pyrometer I believe is just a cheap gauge, it has no light at all. I would like to find a better one that is lit up!Diesel Dave Thanks this. -
Btw, how much did that steering wheel set you back ? I had some hit me up similar like the one you have but it was billet in the middle, he wanted $250.00 for it. I pass on it . I want a leather wrap one but smaller on diameter.
