I saw a Heartland tractor pulling a GTI trailer at the Pilot, exit 170something I80 Nevada, last week.

Ugh! Grab a chair and take a load off... place reminds of those old movie clips. The leader up front exhorting excited, waving and cheering followers who will soon march off to their doom. This thread had over 116,000 views while it ran here on TTR touting the GTI brand as a long haul carrier. You couldn't say it wasn't so without a rapid response that you were a lousy driver, didn't know how to work--or worse.

The problem is that Gordon wasn't a long haul company. It was, like Heartland in the south and east, a western and midwestern regional short load outfit. So how many drivers like Denali and Greyhound did this thread lure over to Gordon on those pretenses? Dunno. Apparently now the adventurers have little or nothing to say nice about GTI/HTLD. Poignant. Bitterly poignant.

So I guess it's up to Greyhound now--if he will--to carry the HTLD/GTI torch forward. I read that he's running strong, recently had 2900 miles.

    Good for him.

well i followed this thread and i thought victor had many valid points
what was that they said?" victor could not make it"
"victor did not know how to work?"
    many things.
two of the most ardent cheer leaders moved on and among their many reasons was couched the famous "PEE WEE wages!!
time to man up and tell victor he was right.
i will enjoy seeing him dogging you through the next chapter of your careers!!

Victor wasn't right. As a matter of fact he's still being the xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx. I left because of other things, nothing that had to do with anything he had said. The fact is, he couldn't make it. He even admitted to it. I could. I did and because of the buyout and other reasons I had left. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx. Let him spin yarns of chickens and only working part time and counting the Gordon's money. I once again will not speak of the little man.

Apparently your reading comprehension is a bit challenged....

1: I left gti after the heartland buyout and subsequent drop in miles and pay. Everything i stated previous to the buyout was correct at that time.

2: he whose name shall not be mentioned was never correct on any matter and greatly misrepresented the truth.
He was not completely honest with gordon which led to him being employed which should not have happened. Gti never had a part time job description.

3: on 2 occasions he had accidents that should have terminated his employment.

4: as far as length of run and pay. He chose to run the midwest regional fleet to be home on a weekly basis. Common sense would tell you that you are not going to get 2000 mile runs in the midwest and be home every weekend. If you wanted the miles you could get them on the U.S. fleet at that time but you needed to stay out an extended period. 3 to 4 weeks was the norm. However everything changed for me after the buyout.

5: i only am responding to your post because you call into question my credibility. As far as this guy following me around to prove some agenda does not bother me. I am doing quite fine now and plan to continue that way. I dont really put a lot of value in anything this guy says and neither should you.

I mentioned no ones name but if the shoe fits
I was loyal to my company and encouraged drivers to get on board and probably will stay.
if I had it to do over I would jump ship for every nickel more because I learned loyalty to a trucking company will bite you at every turn

After the heartland buyout things did change imo. Pay did go down however victors comments were before the buyout and very deceptive. While he did have bits of truth in his statements they were misleading.

This is in effect an irrelevant discussion since everything has changed, gti is no more.

As far as being loyal to an employer, i see nothing wrong with that. There are very good employers out there and when you find one there is nothing wrong in letting others know. Although what one person may define as a good job another may despise so we should take everything into consideration.

Victor is only coming onto this thread and attempting to stir up old arguments in order to reclaim some sort of relevance.

As for myself, I was averaging just over 2,000 with GTI and now at Holland I am averaging closer to 3,000. I can do math and that tells me I am better off at Holland. The main thing for me at GTI was that the maintenance was absolute crap. For me it is NOT acceptable to sit a driver over several days to get merely an A service done, and I had a time when I sat for 10 days waiting first for them to put the truck in then waiting for them to get me a piece of junk loaner. Things mileage-wise improved on reefer, but maintenance got worse. And my final reason for actually quitting was a lying service writer in Pontoon Beach.

I've laid out mine and will do so again.

    1. Equipment issues and maintanence. First truck had no AC and after 9 months it was finally taken care of, then more issues and was given another truck, where it had even more issues.

    2. The miles began to go away when it was more important to give my loads to others and leave me on a 12 mile run for 28 hours. Before that, the miles were good.

    3. I never applied to Heartland. Some people may love them, I never wanted to work there.

Someone may may have a vendetta for somewhere they worked for a few months and couldn't make it. That's their problem. For the most part my experience at GTI was a good one up until the end. I hold no grudges, not mad at them, they are decent people. My pay was always right and up until the the last few weeks, they kept me busy.
