This has been a good hometime trip, for one reason: my collection of the nine Jesse Stone movies is complete.
The last installment, Jesse Stone: Lost in Paradise, arrived Saturday, as did the newly released 2-disc Jeff Beal movie soundtrack. I can now listen to that dark, foreboding music all day, every day in my truck.
I don't go to movies often or watch television much, but I am a huge fan of three productions: the Jason Bourne movies, the Jesse Stone movies, and the Longmire series on Netflix.
My new, final resting place

** There are two antennae on the truck.
** The driver side outside antenna connection appears to have been the one he worked on because a heavy plastic protective cover is missing.
** I removed the mounting hardware and found a black antenna cable coming out of the truck side. This is good; there are two cables inside the radio storage area, one of which is black.
** I did not remove the passenger-side mounting hardware because of the intact heavy plastic protective cover.
** Inside the truck, the black cable appears to be a standard manufacturer-issued cable. It splits into two cables at the radio connection; one goes to the driver side and one to the passenger side.
** The gold-colored cable is wrapped up and appears also to go to the driver side.
** The problem began when I reached as far back into the opening as my arm would go to see what I could feel on the driver side.
** I felt the end of a cable. When I pulled it out, it was black. Apparently, the cable is not connected to the antenna on the driver side.
** Problem #2 is that it feels like the gold cable is attached to that something on the driver side, but I cannot tell what. Perhaps there is a congnection of some kind between the gold cable and the black cable that comes out of the truck to the antenna. I cannot feel that far in and cannot see anything because of obstructions and such.
After all that work being done in high humidity heat, my frustration level was high, so I bailed on the project. At this point, I'm not sure just what to do...I have to decide if taking this to a shop is worth the aggravation and expense; I have been without a CB since I got this truck a couple of months ago and maybe I don't need one that bad. I do have a handheld radio in case I need to contact a shipper/receiver, but most of them are using phones now, anyway, since fewer and fewer drivers have a radio installed.Last edited: Aug 16, 2016

BTW, if you're driving a Cascadia, there's no sense in trying to make the stock antenni work. You need to buy a "bird Pearch" and a new antenna. Read up on it in the CB forum -
Oh, well. I go back out tomorrow, so I shall spend some time mulling.
Mulling is good.Last edited: Aug 16, 2016

Getting a heavy load of frozen pizza that needs to be in Orlando at 0200 Wednesday. 1,400 miles and 23 hours of driving.
No rest for the wicked. And not weekend travel. -
only place to park in that neck of the woods is Love's in Auburndale (and there's a little independent across the street). Orlando is kinda sucky, but watch out for the power poles that look like Mickey Mouse
