This has been a good hometime trip, for one reason: my collection of the nine Jesse Stone movies is complete.

The last installment, Jesse Stone: Lost in Paradise, arrived Saturday, as did the newly released 2-disc Jeff Beal movie soundtrack. I can now listen to that dark, foreboding music all day, every day in my truck.

I don't go to movies often or watch television much, but I am a huge fan of three productions: the Jason Bourne movies, the Jesse Stone movies, and the Longmire series on Netflix.

Well, I have spent several hours on the truck and just returned. I think the "tricky" part is not as much with the radio as with the way the previous driver installed the new antenna cable I found. Here are the details:

** There are two antennae on the truck.
** The driver side outside antenna connection appears to have been the one he worked on because a heavy plastic protective cover is missing.
** I removed the mounting hardware and found a black antenna cable coming out of the truck side. This is good; there are two cables inside the radio storage area, one of which is black.
** I did not remove the passenger-side mounting hardware because of the intact heavy plastic protective cover.
** Inside the truck, the black cable appears to be a standard manufacturer-issued cable. It splits into two cables at the radio connection; one goes to the driver side and one to the passenger side.
** The gold-colored cable is wrapped up and appears also to go to the driver side.
** The problem began when I reached as far back into the opening as my arm would go to see what I could feel on the driver side.
** I felt the end of a cable. When I pulled it out, it was black. Apparently, the cable is not connected to the antenna on the driver side.
** Problem #2 is that it feels like the gold cable is attached to that something on the driver side, but I cannot tell what. Perhaps there is a congnection of some kind between the gold cable and the black cable that comes out of the truck to the antenna. I cannot feel that far in and cannot see anything because of obstructions and such.

After all that work being done in high humidity heat, my frustration level was high, so I bailed on the project. At this point, I'm not sure just what to do...I have to decide if taking this to a shop is worth the aggravation and expense; I have been without a CB since I got this truck a couple of months ago and maybe I don't need one that bad. I do have a handheld radio in case I need to contact a shipper/receiver, but most of them are using phones now, anyway, since fewer and fewer drivers have a radio installed.

So true denali dad. that is exactly what has happened. I started trucking in the mid nineties. payphones were still the way you got things done. there were cells around. but they were not prevalent. i still have a old notebook i use to use in california taliking to my dispatcher and writing down load numbers and phone numbers and pin wheel notes. and temp notes. now it is all on the cell phones. better? i wonder?

    LOL.......now you know.......LOL.
BTW, if you're driving a Cascadia, there's no sense in trying to make the stock antenni work. You need to buy a "bird Pearch" and a new antenna. Read up on it in the CB forum

    DenaliDad and tow614 Thank this.

I drive a 2015 Pete and I just wish the previous guy hadn't completely goofed it up. I get a 'Failed' signal out of both antennae so I really have no idea what's going on inside the invisible areas...and there's no place to attach my own high quality, tuneable Firestick.

Oh, well. I go back out tomorrow, so I shall spend some time mulling.

    Mulling is good.

Getting a heavy load of frozen pizza that needs to be in Orlando at 0200 Wednesday. 1,400 miles and 23 hours of driving.

No rest for the wicked. And not weekend travel.

only place to park in that neck of the woods is Love's in Auburndale (and there's a little independent across the street). Orlando is kinda sucky, but watch out for the power poles that look like Mickey Mouse
