My new, final resting place

I think my DM is trying to kill me. Clearly, he does not know that the following will do it:

Full tarping a load at the original shipper yesterday, then untarping, and folding two tarps at the first receiver, then scurrying down the road very quickly to get to the next shipper before they close for the weekend and watching them load 4 monster coils eye-to-the-sky and a flat plate of aluminum...and all of it has to be tarped...after the wind calms down and stops blowing their plastic wrap that goes on first.

Its a good thing they are closed and this a big parking area is open.

 

Stopped for the night at one of Indiana's premier rest stops. I wanted to make it to the Pilot in Gary so I wouldn't have a long drive to the receiver tomorrow morning, but I'm glad I stopped when I did. Rain was chasing me and I had to redo some of the tarp to keep this "moisture-sensitive" load dry.

And the rain caught me about 10 minutes after I got everything rearranged. I hope I done good!

It's days like this I wish I was pulling a van of some kind again. My shoulders aren't as strong as they used to be and I feel pain in places I didn't know I had. And no "clean, hot shower" waits for me.

 

All I can say is I hope my own attention to detail is enough to keep this load somewhat out of the heavy rain; if not, this load is destined for rejection. Lord knows my pi$$-poor trainer was absolutely NO help.

 

that's definitely a downside to flatbed is always hoping your tarp is on tight and that the tarp job is done right. no better feeling than taking off the tarp and seeing a perfectly dry load

 

In a few hours, I will either know that feeling or the sensation that comes when the receiver rejects the load. I hope for the former, of course.

 

you can throw a few straps on top of your tarps where they overlap to help secure them a lil tighter

 

One thing to watch out for is parking on an incline facing downhill when it rains. The water can run under the tarp overlap. Really bad news for sheetrock or mdf or...

 

I hope they take it and all is good

 

if it's still that load of shingles I think they will. Mostly they just don't want a bunch of dirt and road grime all over the shingle packaging

 

So far what percentage of loads have required tarps?
