That's the rub here, isn't it? But as I said in the beginning, I know what I have to do, unpleasant as it might be or as disappointed as I might get with them. I made it through 4 years in the Navy and a tour in Viet Nam. I can do this. Besides, it's Summer so it's a whole lot nicer than trying to do it in, oh, February.

It sucks to be me, but I don't have a choice.

I have decided that my tool box will stay home. The company clearly cares nothing about my comfort, so I shall return the favor. If something needs fixing or replacing, the company will foot the bill to have it done, no matter how much time I lose. I've also decided I will have to adapt to idling to stay cool/warm, as much as I hate it.

You know you will wind up regretting the decision to not bring your tools. You are too much of a professional to let a not so good company drag you down. As far as idling to stay comfortable, you do what you got to do. If nothing else, you wont have to listen to the super trucker parked next to you who never turns his truck off.

My truck has opti-idle which doesn't seem to work after the first go-around because something in the system needs service and their idle policy temp limits don't seem to work, either. I was in Arkansas with the OAT at 90 but only for a 5-minute idle before shutdown.

And they do, indeed, seem to have an anti-driver policy. It's because they know what they are and they know the kind of drivers who work here. After having been through Gordon's orientation most recently, I can tell you they do not care about the drivers. At all.

Set the trailer brakes and release the parking and it will idle for a couple of hours. Went thru the same as you. It may not work, but there is a sequence for turning on the optimized idle in the manual,, if your truck has one.
