My new, final resting place

I did and didn't like some of the things I heard and I wasn't impressed with their "new" equipment. Maybe another time; not now.

 

Yes. Bosnians. But that works to their benefit because the Bosnian community in the U.S. Is huge and they share, so there's always a lot of freight to move.

 

The road check I did was in an ancient, busted up old Freighliner with almost 1.7 million miles on the odometer...and it looked like it. I guess they use it locally; I sure wouldn't want to drive it very far away from a maintenance shop.

 

If I knew then what I know now...

 

Well, as it turned out, at least one of the things I was told about Western that sounded pretty good turned out to be a lie, so....

 

A couple of weekends ago, I spent a coupl of hours watching YouTube videos on how to fold a flatbed tarp because I'd been having difficulty folding one consistently. Some were tight, some were loose. Some large and some small. I found one that I liked and this past week, which has been a tarp-rich week for me, I tried it. Something clicked because I am approaching that consistency I long for. I also learned I had neglected one step, which made a difference.

This morning, after unloading the two coils I delivered to a steel plant, I left the tarp on the bed because I've gotten tired of letting them fall to the ground and then having to muscle the rolled tarp back up onto the deck. After scurrying to the Pilot with the 15 or so remaining minutes, I got to the business of folding the tarp. But I did something different; I did it all on the deck, not ground. It seemed to work and I think the only bad side effect is, well, falling to the earth. Having already done that once early in my career, without injury, thankfully, is not an experience I want to repeat. I will try it again.

 

If I keep hurting myself doing this flatbed thing, they might just be getting a call sooner rather than later.

Geez, I hate self-inflicted pain.
