And here it is, the next morning, and I'm still in the same place outside the bays. With a dozen other tractors waiting for the day shift to get here. Good thing I'm paid layover for this.

    Oh, wait. I'm not.

Just like the good old days at gordon...minimum of 2 days wait to get into shop....

when my wife and i started driving it was with Covenant. They never changed the oil in their trucks because you put over a gallon a week in them so they figured that was as good as an oil change so they would just change the filters while going thru the inspection line....

I think the long wait for regular service is an industry-wide problem. There aren't enough diesel techs and, in some cases (this one?), there isn't enough money to pay for a well-staffed second and/or third shift.

An unusual occurrence is happening today, and I bet it has something to do with the recent DOT blitz. Beginning yesterday, the company staged 4 53' step deck trailers covered with brand new tires. This morning, several local tire companies' teucks and personnel are here changing tires on outbound rigs needing them. My guess is I'll be there, too. Two of my drive super single's tread depths are getting fairly shallow, so if they aren't changed during the PM, my guess is I will be over there after it's all done.

And then I learn that scheduled maintenance is a multi-phase process. First, they pull the truck in and so some. When they're done with the first part, they pull it out and the truck goes to the bottom of the list. When it comes to the top of the list again, it gets pulled back in again for more.

At some point, it will be done and then I take it outside to the Tire Monsters.

And you've been a hostage how long? Hopefully you can stockpile some extra parts (like bulbs, fluids, etc) so you can keep moving. Just saying!

"Stockpile parts," you say? They won't even give me a second key!
