My new, final resting place

Hope you end up somewhere nice (decent at least) for your reset! Surely things will get better! I hope they do!
They can't decide if my hubby will go with a trainer or not. They said if he does the road test & does good he won't. Then they said he has to go for at least a week or 2 anyway. He was "training" at Celedon for about 4 weeks when they decided to let him (& a few others) go for a recent ticket (personal vehicle that he told them about). We shall see how things go! Maybe your paths will cross on the road somewhere! I do hope you continue to post, as I will be waiting to read! Have a good weekend!

 

If he's doing flatbed, he will need it. If he's in a van, I can't help you much, but I do know they just changed their van training requirements, though I don't know the details since I'm in flatbed.

 

One of the good things about my 'extended stay' PM last week is my truck gained 1 mph! It now goes 63 on the floor and 64 on cruise. Nosebleed speeds, that's for sure.

Heck, I even experienced an unusual occurrence...passing another truck. I don't know if I like that, though. I actually have to use that right mirror...

 

I am doing an extended reset in your old stomping grounds. I am hanging out in Soldotna waiting on the boats to come in with fresh Salmon. I watched people elbowing each other on the Kenai when I came down Friday afternoon.

He is doing flatbed. Waiting to find out what's going on. He was studying last night for a test & then will find out when and for how long he's going with a trainer, I hope.
Congrats on your additional mph! I'm looking forward to getting exciting details like that from my hubby! Ha!

 

I hope he gets one of the certified trainers. He should ask for it; it will make all the difference to him. And tell him not to be in a rush to get his own truck. Flatbedding is not like dry van or reefer!

There is so much variety in what is carried and how to secure and tarp it; more time with a good trainer is well worth it, believe me. I did not have a good trainer and learned almost immediately how much knowledge I was lacking.

 

The best of the best are the Elite Trainers. They are tough, but he will learn his stuff. And tell him not to be afraid to ask for another week or two if he doesn't feel like he knows enough. The last thing he wants (and what I had) is a trainer who only looks at the trainee as a co-driver doing team. We did 4,700 miles in the week I was out and I learned almost nothing...the guy hated questions. You do not want that.

 

He met a trainer at the hotel over the weekend. He requested & got that guy. Hope he's a good one. They then til him 30 days. He is suppose to take his road test July 14. He MIGHT get to be here for our little girls 3rd bday the 18th. I'm not holding my breath, by they are still telling him he will get SE
region & home every weekend. Not holding my breath on those either. Really, home during the week would be better for our family during the school year. Anyway! They had to take another driver to Knoxville to get a truck. The trainer is driving today. After asked why they were staying in Knoxville when they have to deliver in CT the trains decided to go further. Hubby is suppose to start driving at 6 AM. Looking forward to hearing how his 11 goes.

 

I'm hanging about 100 miles from mt delivery tomorrow at a franchise Flying J ( which I didn't even know they had) that has an IdleAir function. And, of course, since the company just started paying for it, I'm cool as the proverbial cucumber!

Sure beats my little fan. The only irritant is that guy over there who is idling (in the "quiet zone," I might add) and whose large engine fan cycles on an off every 15 seconds or so...it is loud and unpleasant.
