My hubby is sitting at the terminal in Nashville. Got there Tuesday to test. Did paperwork & got sent to the hotel. Yesterday he tested with 3 or 4 other guys. Back at the terminal waiting again til they sent him back to the hotel. His truck was in the shop, but finished before they sent him to the hotel. '16 International with 8K miles. He's been sitting at the terminal in his truck because they can't find him a load. The DM was trying to get him home & said he'd send him without a load. Obviously that was nixed. I told him to tell the DM to just get him a load somewhere. I can't pay bills if he's not driving! Oh! & when he got to the terminal they told him he was only suppose to ride with the trainer for a week!

The sheer number of their trucks running around without bumpers or fairings would bear this out lol

    tsavory and 123456 Thank this.

He had his cdl for about 10 years, buy didn't drive but local for Buffalo Rock sometime between then & now. He trained about 4 weeks at Celadon. He was out 2 1/2 weeks with this trainer. He did end up bob tailing home (200 or so miles) yesterday. He picks up his first load Sunday in Birmingham. It was supposed to be a load to Macon, GA, now its to PA. We'll see how it goes. He has the same DM his trainer has. The truck is nice. Guess the last guy didn't like his job. They said he left the truck outside the gate with the flaps broke off (that's why it was in the shop). We'll see how it goes. Our daughter was sure excited to see him & loved the big truck.

Got ya has some previous experience so that is good. I know the company I pull for seems to not have guys with trainers very long at least it seems that way to me.
They was training one to take his test and it seemed like less than a month he was already on his own.

A week is normal for drivers with experience. Just beware of the training he gets and that he's not just used as a team driver. Those were the two issues with my "trainer."

    I will say this:

Just a few days short of my 3-month mark - and the big 1 cpm pay raise that comes with it! - I have driven my last load for Western. I now have to decide if I've had enough checking this 'bucket list' item...

PS. I left a load going to Ohio on the yard today...
