I'm so tired of having zero air in my two systems in the morning and the incessant "low tire pressure" warning. I know it's low! That's what -15 OAT will do! It will stay that way until road friction warms the air up. Sheesh...Last edited: Jan 12, 2016
Bumper Thanks this. -
Spending the night at the tiniest Love's I've seen. They say 20 spots, but I sure didn't count that many. But I have one of them and I don't have to leave until 1030 tomorrow morning. But the real reason I stopped here is because the OklaGrands are in Lawton and will come visit after school!
tow614 Thanks this. -
Oklahoma City, a place I love; I spent 7 years here managing training for new FAA safety inspectors and left just after 9/11/2001. It's even better when the place I take a break is close enough for my daughter and grandkids to drive from Lawton, which they did. We ate at Zio's (a requirement!) and spent a few wonderful hours together.
Today, I head for my drop in Ft. Worth then make a pickup nearby and head back to Wisconson...another 1,100 miles. Not too shabby. -
DD; I saw your post with the mention of 9/11 and the FAA. It brought back memories as I was flying a 757 and landed in Sacramento a few hours before the take overs. What folks don't realize is the tremendous job our controllers did getting everyone safely on the ground. I don't believe they get enough credit for what they did that day. It is amazing what they accomplished in 4 hours time. You guys did a great job. May you always have a tail wind! -
Good grief. I get here to the consignee planning on a D/H. I can't find an empty, so I call the company. They call their contact here and give me two "empty" trailer numbers, which I find...one on my left and one on my right. Yes, I intentionally parked between them. Both with the reefer going. And both with seals.
Empty? I think not.
So I go tell them I need a live unload and they put me in door 21. Then, at 5:00, everybody goes home. Ummm...what about my live unload?!?
These are things that make me hate consignees.crazeydude and tow614 Thank this. -
They did one heck of a job, didn't they? It's a testament to the skill and ability of the people on the other end of the microphone.

Grand Prairie, Texas, getting loaded for a long trip to Wisconsin followed by an even longer trip to Florida. Oh, gee...

And spending the night in a tiny Love's with no scale...and me with 45,000 lbs in the box. Fortunately, I am light on fuel and there is a scale up the road before the coop!

Back at the same Love's I was at earlier this week in Eagleville, MO. I have a Monday anytime delivery in central Wisconson so I just have to figure out if I have enough for a reset, especially because after that drop I have a nearby pickup then a dash to Orlando. I might need all the hours I can get without depending on recap.
We'll see.
