Hanging out at the Pilot just outside Mobile. Tomorrow, we ditch the last of 4 loads and await the next one. Just to make me remember my place in the world, I nailed the first fairly tight blindside back first thing and then blew what should have been an easy normal back into a very open parking space.
Just to remind me of my place in the world...
My new, final resting place

Overnighting at a Pilot in northern Indiana. We will make our push for a 10:00 a.m. delivery tomorrow. After that, who knows. Tomorrow is also my 'anticipated graduation' date and I have no idea what to expect. My guess is they will work on routing us under a load back to Nashville so I can take my final road test. After that, I will join the ranks of income producers for the company, nervous as I am about it after so short a time.
It all starts tomorrow...joseph1135, rexmanno and Ditch Doctor Thank this. -
Delivery in Kenosha then on to Fond du Lac

We made the drop and a pick up. We are heading for a new home construction job site delivery in the mountains of North Carolina. And rain. Oh, what rain.

Years ago I worked for a flatbed company that was started by Wayne Wise; the same man that started Western Express. As you may have learned, he is now deceased. Loved working for him; really laid back. There were complainers there also, but all in all, those of use with a strong work ethic did well there.
Most interesting load I hauled was a huge gear on a dropdeck trailer. Picked it up in California and delivered it to the top of a mountain in upstate New York to a ski resort. It was for a new ski lift being installed.
2nd most interesting was a huge roof air conditioner. Picked it up in Tennessee and delivered it to a new hospital being built in Los Angeles. Security guard parked me in a huge mud hole which led to the basement of the hospital. It was still night so had to wait for the crane at daylight. Lights started coming on in the condo complex next door with their curtains open. All men living there and most wearing womens nighties. Geeezze, whatever! The security guard thought it was funny.
Anyway, flatbedding is a great career and I think you'll enjoy it and probably never go back to reefers.Last edited: Apr 3, 2015

Saturday, April 4. Two days after my "anticipated graduation date" and we are headed to some truck stop in Indiana, not Nashville for me to test out. We will meet up with another driver and swap loads, then head to Omaha, Nebraska. From there, he says, we will go pick up copper "out West" and take it to New York City.
You can bet I will send an email to the training coordinator and my recruiter. Driving team is not something I signed up for nor want to do. And it sure seems like that's what we are doing.double yellow Thanks this. -
Chinatown Thanks this.

Seems you may have to get someone's attention in Nashville about this "team stuff."
