    Talk about extremes.

I just watched the Weather Channel and learned at the top of the country, Buffalo, NY, got 7 feet of snow yesterday. Here near Orlando, the temp today is supposed to be near 70 degrees.

As much as I dislike Florida, I think I'm glad I'm here, not there.

And it's good I came here. The truck needs a PM and the shop here in Winter Haven is now 7-days a week, so I get the stupid wipers fixed - who knows; maybe I'll be able to see out without leaning over! - and perhaps even get the leaky DEF cap replaced. Yaaay!

Hopefully, I get a plan today. Since out payroll cutoff is Monday at 4:00 pm local and I'm sitting here at our terminal, this week's check is going to be quite anemic.

So there it is. I get a plan and get to the shipper only to find out - after a great deal of checking by all kinds of people - that my load was taken "by mistake" by another WEL driver...and he was allowed to leave the property by security even though the bills didn't match!

So I have his load going to the same place. As I was leaving at about 9:00 pm, I wondered where I was going to do for a parking spot. I am, after all, not far south of Atlanta...

Just as I was querying the RM, an almost-empty shopping center parking lot with a bunch of parked trucks magically appears on my right.

So let's see: Out-of-business dark grocery store + large, dark parking lot + other trucks = what?

    Yup. Problem Solved!

So let's see: Atlanta + Out-of-business dark grocery store + large, dark parking lot + other trucks = what could possibly go wrong?

    Better circle them wagons.

From somewhere south of Louisville, this:

Some days you eats the bear. Some days the bear eats you.

There's not much left of me this day, so g'night.

DD one of the drivers that I used to work with said he had a drop and hook in Atlanta and after that he went on to the area that he had to pick up at and he found a mall lot and when he woke up next morning he had a boot on his truck and a $600 fine to get it off paid right then. Hope you don't get the same wake up call.

DD, I hope you don't mind if I ask a few questions about WEL. I live in the grand rapids, Mi area. I was wondering how they are with getting you home and how quick were they from sending in your app to being in orientation. I just ask because I had a place local lined up to start and they called me last minute monday and said they were going with a different plan with their open truck, and to have good luck... lol. So I'm ready to rock and roll and I have thought about wel before.

I don't need to be home much but when I do, my DM works a plan within a week, which works for me. Right now, for example, I'm headed that way for hometime I asked for about 3 days ago. The coordinating takes some energy, but there's always food going to Meijer and other receivers in Western Michigan.

As for how long between application and orientation, it can happen very, very quickly or you can stretch it out. It depends on your needs, really.

I'm a big supporter of WEL and heartily recommend them.

That's good to know. It wasn't me and the only reasons I didn't feel bad about parking there were no signs prohibiting it; an out-of-business building; and a bunch of other trucks already there. It was an uneventful and quiet night.
