I had my 9 year old daughter teaching me how to do things on the phone. They where taught how to use computers in kindergarten and 1st grade. I was not taught typing until around 9th grade. Boy how times have changed.

Last post made me think I will ask my 2 kids if they even know what a typewriter is. I would venture to say that they will not know.

There is a lot they probably don't know about. I had an 8-track player when I was growing up. I remember when we first got a telephone. It had a rotary dial and we had a party line.

Tell them it's a word processor that prints but doesn't have a monitor...though, come to think of it, they might not even know what a 'word processor' is.

I had a Brother typewriter when I was growing up. It was a manual typewriter. No fun to writer papers on. Using Word is a lot easier.

As I age and spend more time writing or thinking about it, I long to go back to the days of typewriters, ribbons, correction fluid, and paper. They have become "collector items," however, so they're more expensive than when they were new and finding ribbons is very difficult; nobody makes something that nobody needs, right?

Sitting in our Joliet terminal. I pick up a terminal-made load tomorrow sometime and leave early Monday for a trip to southern Illinois and eastern Missouri to start this, the last week before Memorial Day weekend.

I hope I'm stuck in a truck stop or terminal that weekend. Driving and traffic on the first traditional weekend of summer is miserable.

Another 24 hour wait in Joilet befor a 0400 departure tomorrow. Good thing they give me layover pay, though I needed this long-ish break.
