I guess this whole Heartland-Gordon Trucking merger thing is real.

I just drove eastbound on I270 and saw the sign at the Gordon yard near Exit 6B in Pontoon Beach, Illinois. The sign is there, yes, but it's not a Gordon sign; it's got Heartland all over it. There are still sprinkles of aquamarine tint in the yard, too, but mostly it's red and white.

Kind of depressing, you know? Sad, really...

Been over for me some time now...
I am truly in a better place ...

Plus today I moved into my brand new KW T680.. all wheel disc brakes are sweet..
I do have the wingman collision avoidance system but I think it will be OK.

Today I saw a Big G Mack Pinnacle with a condo sleeper. Hope they aren't going to start buying a bunch of those. Heard they aren't good OTR trucks.

Those are old ones that they got for comparison.
    Will be traded in soon...

Was that in Coronado,CA? Saw them training there. Remember thinking, "I could never survive that with this hangover and smokers cough."

It was. I have a Pavlovian response whenever I think of running miles on that beach and doing punishment sit-ups right at the wave break in the water of San Didgo Harbor, even 45 years later. I know both well...

Does anyone know where the fuse panel is on a Pete 386?

I think I've blown a 12V receptacle's fuse with this new Road Pro 16 oz coffee maker I bought but I have no idea where to look.

I sure wish they would give me one of the new trucks with the pre-installed fridge and 1500W inverter...

Parked at the Flying J somewhere in Ohio for the night. Tomorrow, I head for Maryland and try to find some place to park so I can make my 0200 delivery Monday morning in Maryland northwest of DC.

Steve Gordon just retired from Heartland, saying:

"The time seems right as we move into the final stages of combining GTI and Heartland into one company 2 1/2 years after being acquired, having cleared many of the hurdles already to make that happen. Once it is truly all Heartland, the organization only needs one leader and that is Mike Gerdin. I’m happy to have gotten to this point and feel confident about the future of the combined operations under the Heartland banner.”

Don't feel bad for the guy, in the last year Steve has unloaded $5 million in Heartland stock and still has another $18m in stock remaining (at least some of which is locked up until 2017).

As for Gerdin? He sold $86 million in stock last year (and still has another 500+ million)
