lol That guy is a good writer. I knew there was a reason their name didn't even so much as flash into my mind when I was considering which company to go with.

well so far the responses seem to be on my side.(thank god) this time around "if" i get with another trucking company , i think I'll make my self clear as to what I expect from my trainer and his truck, and I'll be sure to do a thorough in cab inspection before i tell him/her I'm ready to roll.

I'm pretty sure i "screw myself" by quitting, and there's a good chance i got the old black ball.
but life goes on, if worse comes to worse I'll go back to spinning wrenches.(ugh)

I have been seein a lot of new people having the same issues with trainers. All I have to say is they n.eed to grow a set and speak up right away.

The B.S of getting in the truck and seeing a bucket and crap everywhere should be the first sign not to go with thiat trainer. The only bucket I want to see is one for trash.
so not you jump in the truck it doesnt have a funky smell or crap everywhere looks clean smells alright take 15 min and run around and do a 1/2 #$$ PTI, after all your prob going to be driving this rig at some point. ( if your trainer says dont worry about the PTI he did one already and is rushing to get moving it can be another bad sign of poor planing his time and/or likly somethings wrong and they just want to get the wheels moving)

I did a team run for almost 2 years . My trainer was one of these pigs and he cleaned his act up real fast before we left the yard. he has crap everywhere tried the dont worry about the PTI we got to get moving. I grew a set and made a simple call he grew a brain real fast. 4 of the 6 brakes out on our tridem no shoes left ( 3 axel trailer for the new ppl) and no running lights at the rear.. go figure he was just going to run with the 4 ways at night. Need less to say the DM who happens to be the owner of the company had this guy smarten up real fast and had this trailer fixed and truck cleaned .. a few weeks later he was let go and I had a new trainer. I left the company after 6 months ( grass was greener so I thought) I returned 8 months later to that team run as lead driver doing the training. I had a diff person every week and not becuase I wouldnt stop for them or my truck was a mess, ect.
they just wernt cut out for trucking.
I would stop in a walmart once a day had a fridge and a toaster ofen and microwav. would stop every 4-6 hours for a brake to walk around the truck kick tires write my name in the snow and if thursty go in and get a coffe ( takes all of 10 min to do all this) get back in shut that door and get rolling. I will admit sometimes we didnt have time to stop for a shower for when getting fuel since most of the fueling was done at the peek times for showers and couldnt wait a hour and 1/2 but if we skiped the walmart and 2 stops for pee/coffe brakes not skipping the tire checks
we made up enough time on the 2'nd day for a shower and fuel between 1-6 am somewhere.

I think these new drivers need to stop thinking if they want this job they have to put up with this crap there is always another company to work for and sometimes the mom and pop places will take rookies on but it will be LOW pay witch isnt what they want since the flashy books at the truck stops and schools say 45k in ur first year, company paid medical blah blah blah.

the smaller the company the less likly you are to run in to these wana be drivers who live like pigs and just want to turn the tires.

Dont get me wrong I want to turn the tires & I dont make money standing still but I surely dont make any money when the DOT/MOT run me around back and place me OOS and hand me a ticket.

A clean truck nice smelling truck with clean papers doesnt get the 2'nd look like the filthy crap smelling messy papers truck will.

I'm not sure about new drivers--But as a long time O/O--I have done quite a bit of business w/RC Moore(both generations) over the years--they are in Southern Maine. They have a couple of different divisions--seems like dry vans regionally and long haul reefers--they are good folks--Im sure they have their problems(now that they are much bigger than they used to be)but the Moore family is a straight up bunch--might be worth looking into?

It's not just trainers, but alot of truckers that lost touch with being a normal human being over time. The stupid excuses of like using a 5 gallon bucket for a bathroom regularly and living with the smell is plain laziness. Giving up eating a normal diet in lieu of time is someone that can't manage their time. You might not be able to sit down and eat, but you can make time to buy a burger to go.

Why is that trainer making you sleep in the top bunk with all his crap up there?? First of all it is illegal for anybody to ride in that top bunk while the truck is in motion. That's why the cargo net is on the bottom bunk only. A trainer should have the top bunk and one cabinet space available for each student. The student should use a sleeping bag and cover the bottom bunk to sleep on while the truck is in motion.

If these trainers can't be real trainers, they need to resort to just driving. Just like they are letting anybody drive, they are letting anybody train. The system is breaking down.

My trainers truck smelled like piss. She got the message I didn't approve when I shampooed the carpet. You live by yourself is one thing. You have to share tight quarters with someone else, you need to put forth a little more effort.

I wish you luck Green Machine. I would ask for another trainer next time. They all aren't alike.

Sorry to read of your horror story. It's not the first I read and sadly won't be the last. Good thing, is that it's the exception, not the norm. I cannot imagine even putting my stuff into that truck. A 5-gallon bucket? Really?

Well you know one thing, your next position should be roses compared to this one. Good luck and thanks for sharing.

I think people just starting out have to hold themselves to a higher standard, I wouldnt have even stepped foot into a truck in those conditions. I'm 22 years old with 2 years experience. I started out saying I wanted a local job, I busted my hump knocking on doors until I got one. I drove long hours for little pay, then I drove junk trucks for more pay with more hours, Now I just started driving some of the nicest trucks youll see on the road for more pay yet. Ive worked extremely hard to get where Im at and refused to deal with the ######## some of these so called "training companies" will put you through. Go knock on doors of all the local companies that own a truck, before you resort to living with filth like that...I wish you the best of luck next time man.
