It seems every one has or knows of the trainer from hell, it sucks but will get better. Besides not getting in the truck in the first place (been there) you didn't by chance take any pic's with your phone did you? Some proof of what you went thru can change a bad DAC report into nothingand won't hurt you at all. When you talk to new co. TELL THEM about this, just the facts in a matter fact way. Good luck there are good trainers out there that want to teach not just get paid

A 5 gal bucket. Nice touch...
Last time I checked, these rigs don't say "MENS ROOM" on the side...
-
Good grief. You screwed up when you left with that guy knowing how bad it smelled in there with a piss bucket in plain sight plus him telling you to share the bunk with his chidt. That should have been a quick short call to dispatch and one to safety telling them to meet you on the yard for a truck inspection. That bucket is a bio hazard.
-
You should have never even put your stuff in the truck after seeing the 5 gallon bucket to pee in, you should have turned right back around and went to the terminal manager or anyone in charge and told them to look in his truck. As for making you sleep in the top bunk while he's driving, that is against the law and against almost every safety departments rules. You should have reported him so no one else would have to go through that crap. Not all trainers are like that and the ones who are need to be reported and not allowed to train anymore. We've all seen countless threads on here regarding bad treatment from trainers and people seriously need to start reporting these people.
Hitman Thanks this. -
Shoulda, coulda, woulda. . .You have had a learning experience here. Not a very pleasant one at that. But I'm sure that it won't happen again, because you will have gained enough knowledge to not let it happen again.

That guy makes truckerdragon's trainer look like a saint..
I have yet to see a 'law' saying sleeping in the top bunk of a moving is illegal, but it is real dangerous.. my company simply would not allow it.. no company should allow it.. -
Sounds to me like you have a guaranteed claim for unemployment compensation. You left the job due to unsafe working conditions. The bucket of urine pretty much sums it up.
I'd sure try to collect if I were you. They didn't offer to help you in this situation... so why cut them any slack?Hopefully paying you unemployment will make them think twice when pairing trainees with trainers.

Trucking isn't for everyone, and every trucker isn't like that turd you rode with.
-
You definitely had a bad experience but why did you not just get another trainer? You are going to waste a lot more time and money having to find another company plus this is now on your record. I'm on your side but I would put a little more thought into your decisions next time. You only get so many shots with no experience. Good luck.

Mine was pretty bad too. Company was Werner by the way.
I'm from FL and its the first time i've seen snow and ice and mountains in my life. I'm going down a grade for my first time and my trainer is laid back having a conversation with me about god knows what, and he kept asking me "know what i mean? you know? know what i'm saying" as i'm going down a 8% grade that didn't seem like it was ever going to end and i'm looking to my side and seeing a cliff... I just wanted to yell SHUT THE F UP! but I am too nice, so all I could do is smile and nod, as I proceeded to turn my boxers brown.
I was with my trainer for 3 weeks and I probably got 4 showers in that time period, he blamed it on the loads. I ended up with a rash between my upper thighs due to the extreme amount of ### sweat and dirt accumulating together and chafing as I walked around after about the 5th day of not showering. It was a nightmare. I sometimes would be driving and he would wake up from his slumber and have to pee, instead of asking me to make a quick 3 min rest stop, he would whip out his hog and start going in a coffee cup within a foot of me. He at least had the courtesy to turn his back to me so I couldn't see him, and I don't think he saw exactly what he was doing because he had one of those guts that hung down over his belt, I'm pretty sure some piss got on the bed sheets which I had to sleep on.
He would be driving and I'd be trying to sleep, and he drove like total crap. He'd haul ### thru the parking lot whenever he stopped at a truck stop and hit every pothole, I'd go flying out of bed. He would drive like 10 mph up to the fuel pump and slam on his brakes so I would roll around. If I could actually fall asleep on the interstate, I'd #### sure wake up whenever he stopped somewhere because he doesn't know how to slow down using caution or consideration. Whenever I drive and I know someone is trying to sleep, I will take it easy and slow down as easily and gradually as I could, not go from 10 mph to 0 mph in a split second.
Then you have him with the radio turned up all the way while I'm trying to sleep, or him ######## and cussing, at cars going down the road, it's like, can't you keep it to yourself while I'm trying to catch some sleep? I am a very light sleeper and even if I can get used to the bumping of the truck, I wake up if i hear someone talking in my vicinity.
If we were both sleeping and I was on the top bunk, he was on the bottom, he would sometimes eat and gorge himself, i dont think he knew how to keep his mouth closed. I would lay there with my eyes open staring at the ceiling thinking I was in hell. When he got done eating like a pig in a troff, he would attempt to sleep and because he was so obese he had to breathe heavily and make these weird grunting sounds like a cave bear or something. I probably got 2-3 hrs a sleep a night even when we both were parked due to how obnoxiously loud he was.
When it came time for me to get off the truck, we were in dallas and I needed to be in FL. Dispatch wanted to route us up to PA first, and I was desperate to get off his truck. My training was done and I needed to be home. So I bought a #### plane ticket. I had to pay $300 for cab ride and a plane ticket, but I'd have paid 10x that price to get away from him. After 3 weeks of misery, I didn't care what the cost was.
He was a pretty nice guy deep down, just really mis-guided. I think he was a great driver but not very courteous, which is lacking among most people.
