I am shocked that a company actually expects a driver to be in relatively decent physical condition. I wish ALL trucking companies expected drivers to be able to walk from the fuel island to the desk without taking a break. It would be even better if companies gave drivers enough time off everyday to do some physical activity that keeps them from becoming a liability in the future.

these red flags he CHOSE to ignore are on him, plain and simple. Having had exp in this industry , he could and should have have asked more questions or trusted his instincts.
When I was set for orientation they told me to watch a video on these very tests he was taking. Its available on the schneider jobs website .
Led to believe no more from schnieder by asking a Dr running a clinic that is soley contracted to give the physicals for MED CARD/drug tests? Cmon, he is going to honestly say this Dr would know anything beyond grabbing nads and asking you to cough? Please. -
They coul have let him retake the test that day not have to wait for 7 days. You have high bp they let you relax then retake it.This driver needed a job now. Then that guy in another room asked him about driving vans, thats was'nt his purpose going to texas.Besides if sni gave such a test for a local job would'nt they give the same test for vans? The point is this driver worked with schneider and they did'nt do the same. They could have given the same test that day or the next day. That's the problem with companies,NO COMPROMISING.They exspect drivers to work with them in a forced favor attitude but won't do the same.Far a asking questions before going to orientation,in many cases things happen after you get there that you would'nt think to ask.Recruiters don't give out any extra info about the company because then noone would drie for them. Why do you think there is such a high turnover rate.

I run Bulk with Schneider I trained in Dallas and they are very strict on their PT test we have had a few drivers drop dead with a heart attack there was 10 guys in my training and out of 10 only 3 made it .I am very glad you were able to Find a another company to work for But I would not count them as one of the worst I get great home time plenty of miles the Bulk division is A lot different than the Van side of schneider .But again glad you found another company Be safe driver and good luck

taking the test a week later meant he would have been on track with their orientation schedule. Taking the next day puts him a day behind. He JUMPED before he signed any paperwork, uprooted himself before knowing for FACT he had a job and its SNI fault? BS. Not once in his original post did I see ANY self accountability. This company has its faults just like the other behemoths, but to expect to be catered too on an individual basis before you even HAVE the job, is a bit delusional in my opinion.
He would have more credibility IMO opinion if he owned his clear mistakes and not lay it soley off on any company not just this one. -
What should he take blame for,not knowing every fact before leaving Florida? Not knowing if he failed he would have to wait 7 days before retakeing it?Is that on their website how long you would have to wait before retaking it if you fail?I think that's where his beef is having to wait a week. This driver has exp,he knows he did'nt have a for sure job untill all the red tape goes thru. But what he did'nt know is having to wait so long to retake the test.Like I said,he could have just retook it an hr later and bet he would have passed an been right on track with that orietation class. But Schneider and the med office coulld'nt do that because of rules that refuses to work with drivers.Put yourself in his shoes, would'nt you be upset?I suppose sni did'nt reimburse him for gas either did they even though they said they would, but in order to get reimbursed you have to be working for them?Is that how companies operate, you don't get reimbursed for nothing unless you actually start working for them?I wonder if that's on scihneiders website.I know he should have asked questions.I'm glad he found another job so quickly and wish him lots of success with National.I do think if he knew before hand he would have to wait to retake it,he would have rethunk going with Sch.Time is money and he did'nt have time to lose not to mention another week or two before getting paid had he waited 7 days to retake it and passed.

He did take a physical and a drug screen before he left Florida. That is all most employers require a driver to do in order to work for them. He most likely informed Schneider's recruiter of his plans to uproot his life and go to Texas (thinking he had the job in the bag). Schneider didn't inform him of further physicals, stress tests or heartbeat per minute requirements. They were less than honest.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that mickeyrat68 works for Schneider, and is happy doing so. -
yes I do. Yes I am. I have my own complaints about this company, but this dude jumped the gun imo. He left Fla without having signed anything. Had it in his head he had it. While most do , it came down to him not likely breathing normally during these tests( which by the way many companies have prospective employees preform BEFORE actual hire).
We didn't even begin filling out paperwork(w-2 ins etc) until after these tests were taken.
He spoke to what I read as 3rd party recruiters until he got to a SNI employee. States this raised red flags but WENT WITH IT ANYWAY!!!!!Took a risk and it bit him in the keister. I too am glad he was able to get on with someone else, but man DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE YOU MAKE THESE KINDS OF DECISIONS!!!
could have came here to ask questions, seeing as how he knew to come here to complain and take virtually no responsibility for his own decisions. -
When someone is making this large of a physical move, all tests should be done prior to the company....aw, never mind. Companies are never gonna change, and the drivers that defend them won't either.
The Challenger and bigblue19 Thank this.
