Lol... I-10 east from Texas to the coast will almost have you peeing blood. I can't believe parts didn't start falling off the truck. Ran it 4 times during training.

They are telling me .39 a mile once I get on my own truck. Im also going flatbed after training. Im done with my first 50 hours now time to start the team phase of training after reset. Was told a lot of west coast runs during the team phase. Yeah I do enjoy it and happy with swift so far. Should be in my own truck in 3 weeks.

Right on. Would you train with flatbed in Phoenix? that is what I was told. The recruiter recommended I start off with van/reefer. Don't understand why Swift get so many bad reviews.. maybe I am missing something.MM3Deg Thanks this.

It's been freakin an awesome experience for me!! I think alot of it has to be rookies with no clue what they are getting into.
Apparently they have turn over in this sweet gig I got hooked up with..
Wimps.. "I had to unload my own truck, sometimes on my break... Sweating my balls off and hair out for only twenty dollars extra"
Lets see..
I got pretty much a new truck.
All the work that can be squeezed into the clock.
2.5 - 3 day weekends.
All sorts of pays and bonuses.
Regional w/ some local (its my opinion that local provides only the worst driving has to offer) at least in DFW.
When the schedule lines up, I even get dinner at home once or twice a week.
Lets see what else...
EXPERIENCE!!!
Backing the truck 2-6 times a day.
DC has blindside drop section.. 50/50 shot a getting directed there.
And the ICING on the CAKE...
A free camera!!
Seriously I would have bought my own.Lightside Thanks this. -
You can also see my forum join date...
I pulled the trigger this past march.
I was well aware of what I was getting into.
I expected this first year to be a pride swallowing disaster.. A testament to survival.
Pretty mind blowing that the company actually kinda rocks.inkeper Thanks this. -

Been with mentor 2 weeks now. We are now running team and cover bout 1200-1400 miles in a 24 hour period. Done a lot of mountain driving. I feel I'm doing well but need some work on city driving. Went through downtown Dallas and that's a real mess. I made it but was a bit confusing to say the least. I'm enjoying the job and mentor said I'm bout ready to go on my own. So far I like swift. When I get my own truck and have to deal with them more one on one will tell the tell. We will see soon how that goes. A bit nervous bout going on my own but ready to have my own truck. I like the kw t680 but no ideal what I get. I'm also going flatbed after training.
Lightside Thanks this. -
Sounds great. Good luck to you. I actually am starting with Knight Transportation now instead. Heard they stay more up North but we will see. Was told it was 3 weeks over the road. Wasn't Swift like 5 weeks? Once you have your own truck you will get even more confident in your driving skills.
