Hey man! Congrats on getting hired! Keep us updated! Couple questions
How long is the orientation process if you are a new driver? In school now and thinking about either Roehl or Schneider.
Did they mention how many miles you are going to average a week?
Did you have to pay for your hotel room during orientation? I am trying to figure out how much I need to save before I start..
Keep on posting... and stay safe on the road. Glad you like Roehl. They seem like a decent company.
My personal Roehl experience!

Both companies a new driver (has CDL) orientation is 1 week. Classroom and road time. Going to Roehl's school to get your CDL then it is a 3 week class with classroom and road time. Schneider does not train for getting your CDL. After orientation then time out with trainer for 11-14 days out.
For Roehl, the first few weeks after you leave your trainer's truck and are in your own truck you will be on the Developmental Board. A group of Fleet Managers who work with just new drivers smoothing out and helping you learn the new lifestyle and job. Miles will be lower as they give you more time on loads since you are still in the learning phase. After you show you are getting the hang of trip planning and time management you will be transferred to a FM on a regular board. Miles will go up as you show your FM and planner you can do the job on time.Hoot67, Jrivas23, evanstonmark and 2 others Thank this. -
Thanks bud!!
For your questions:
1- Orientation is 8 days (classroom, hands-on pretrips, ride along the yard and regulations trainings). On the road (Phase 2) is 10-13 days with a trainer.
2-Mileage has so many variables to it that they can only give an estimate. For me they said around 2,500 or so. But like I said it will vary on location (state you live and freight lanes specific to your area if you gonna do regional) if national, how many days you will be out or if flatbed or reefer division. you can always call them and get a more specific answer from them
3-Motel, lunch at orientation and dinner voucher is provided by Roehl. Breakfast if you can make it downstairs before shuttle to terminal arrives is provided at the motel restaurant.
So far they do seem like a decent company. Truthful to what they had told me from the beggining and good reviews from everyone I've asked to.
Btw, where do you live??evanstonmark Thanks this. -
