Be gentle going into the gears... you can feel in your hand if its going to slip in - rather than jamming it and getting the gears to grind. Also, pay more attention to your tach and get the engine speed range right - the engine knows RPM - NOT mph!!!!

Another good tip that I forgot.... heck, I still once in a great while miss 5th... in that case I usually just skip it, just flip the switch & go for 6th... 9 times out of 10 it'll drop right in.

    Back on topic again.

Well. Got my CDL today. Last week has been hell. Between learning to back, hating learning to back, hot ### SpringMo weather, and the test in general.

I passed my pretrip first try. But I failed backing twice (alley dock both) before finally passing it today (alley dock again). Then I went and passed the road test first try.

So anyway, I'm just happy to be done with the whole thing. Going to get my cdl tomorrow. Yay!!!!

As for the PSD program. I defiantly recommend it to anyone looking at getting into trucking. It's such a great way to learn. As for backing in general. Best way to do it is just trial and error. Just like shifting, it just clicks after awhile and you start getting in the hole every time.

I'll make a separate thread on the whole PSD process when I got some time. But right now, I'm going to just relax.

Was great meeting some of the guys out there (Cage, ORD) and to see good old Gator again.

Goodbye student status, hello 0-1. :)
