that has happened to me twice in 6 weeks. It was awesome. Once we had a little extra time and we met my family for breakfast. The last time I went 15 miles out of route and stopped at walmart. Got a ride to the house and spent 6 hours with my kids then delivered load. This truck is LO so the dispatched miles don't matter much. But since I am deciding between company and lo I have been doing the milage. We have had 24 loads in this past month. 16 we drove more than dispatch 8 we drove less than dispatch. In total our net was 147 miles short. or 6.1 miles a load or $1.80 a load. If that proves normal that is 529 dollars a year. I look at it like IP said earlier. I came to prime knowing they paid this way and accepted it. If Prime were the only co doing this it might be fishey but it has been the industry standard for a long time. Best I can tell is it is zipcode to zipcode
miles or close to it. If it was short by 100 miles a load it would be a questionable practice. But 6 miles come on a driver can short himself 6 miles by looking for a place to park some nights.

I wasnt complaining or arguing this. I just happened to notice someone in a post saying they lost 3k. Thats not 30cents! And it was probably an exaggeration and not typical. To be honest I can see where the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. On another note I have also noticed that Prime offers a lot of bonuses and benefits that helps to offset this anyway.

Seebs, i wanted to ask you if they told you to get a passport and you refused or because you could not get one if you applied?
-
They told us we should get it. I just didn't bother. I don't want to deal with Canada and if that means less loads I'm OK with that
-
Ive never been sent to Canada in almost 4 years at Prime.
Then again, I already had a passport when I got here... and it was convienent to still have one when I took my vacation to Europe last week.
I cant remember if you are a company driver...
if you are a company driver, your FM will do a once a year check on Hazmat, Passport, and TWIC for their entire fleet. They will request it as an update to their files... and if you are missing one or any of the items you will be given a time limit to which you must prove you have started the process to obtain them....
or in the passport case, you can get a free pass on the requirement if you are barred from entering Canada
My FM just did a check a few months ago. I had all 3, I just had to verify they had the correct experiation dates noted in the system... supposedly your FM will give you a heads up when you are getting close to renewals. -
how many years old does a dui have to be untill canada lets you in? 10 years?
-
Its never. Canada classifies a DUI in the same way we classify a felony down here. You can get one-time entry authority if you pay enough money. You can get them to look the other way if you pay a whole lot more.

so would one still have to get a passport if they have a dui in past?
-
what im curious to know is in nh. my homestate my old dui will fall off my record in 10 years so how will anyone know i had one if its not on my driving record? i guess i could call dmv and ask them.
-
It never falls off of your complete driving history. Because of that, when Canadian immigration officials access your criminal records at the border it all pops up. They have access to databases that most folks down here are required to get a court order to access.
The bottom line is that they may wave you through 100 times, but if they check on the 101st - you just committed a crime in Canada. Trying to illegally enter the country. I believe that gets you thrown in jail, your truck impounded, and your carrier totally PO'd at you.
