nobody is locking anyone up... Believe it or not IP doesnt know everything and sometimes pulls stuff out of his ### and states it as fact.
I should hope he is missing out on that Canadian beer also that he mentioned you will be missing. No drinking on the job.
Each passport, or passport card has a bar code... they swipe it like a credit card.
If there is a problem they dont let you cross... simple as that.
Having something on your record the Canadians dont like will not preclude from getting a passport... Its not something the US will notify you of when you apply. Quite a few people only find out once they get to the border they cant get in.
Just ask about any Fleet Manager there are dozens of stories of drivers or drivers with Trainees getting to the border and finding out they cant cross for something on their record.
Im pretty sure it was Sazook that got turned away because of his trainee, so he put him up at a hotel till Sazook could come back across. I dont remember his particular recorded offense. Or I could be thinking of my old trainer.

Whatsa matter U2? Wake up on the wrong side of the truck this morning?
-
No need to be telling newbies that they will be arrested at the border if the have some sort of previous record preventing them from entering Canada.
Nobody is getting arrested at a border crossing unless they are doing something illegal, or have a current active arrest warrant (wanted).
They simply deny entry.
You tell one newb something, and they turn around and tell another 10 newbs at orientation... it snowballs... Pretty soon Prime has trainees (future employees) with clean records refusing to go to Canada fearing execution by Canadian Firing Squads for the illegal copies of crappy movies they downloaded off the internet.Bfennell Thanks this. -
Yeah, but it sure is hilarious once it goes viral!

#### dude! Ya gotta do somethin' to get some chuckles out of this business!DenaliDad Thanks this. -
If i get on with prime i will surely call you if they give me a canada load and swap with you.
-
If you swipe your card and they don't let you in, do you just drop the load in a yard near there or you wait for another driver to pickup?
-
That was too funny
-
Yes and yes... contact dispatch, and let them come up with a plan. Usually, you're going to baby-sit the load until they arrange a repower.
When I was training, we got a load going up to Vancouver... the 90 page claimed it was going to Vancouver WA, USA. When we looked it up on mapquest AND google earth, it was in Vancouver BC, CANADA. We ended up sitting in that little POS truckstop in Blaine WA for a day until they got a grumblin' Canadian Prime driver to come get it.
That was mostly a dispatch bungle... turns out ALL of those particular loads were dropped on our side, and then pulled across by one of our guys who lives up there - mostly to short-circuit customs problems with a "customs expediter." Ya pay enough it goes right through. Someone just didn't clue our clueless dispatcher in on the deal.cwc Thanks this. -
That's what we did with the evil flowers... dropped um in Blaine then turned n burned south.

U2exit, my decision not to go into canada is not based on what ironpony said, i do not want to go to canada period. Like i said in another thread i have nothing against them, i rather truck in the u.s.a. There is enough miles for me here. I don't think anyone else would be influenced by ironpony's statement if they really want to go see canada. I was using that as an excuse not to get a passport. I see enough foriegn countries on tv. I have no desire to visit in person.
