Sounds great. I doubt I'll be in Macon. I'm leaving out in the morning from Missouri. Are you being assigned a truck there in Macon or are catching a ride up here to Springfield?

Update: Well I didn't leave out Sunday as I had planned. All the Sunday loads were taken, which ended up being a good thing. Sunday evening I went outside and notice our car had a flat. I pulled it into my shop, aired it up and found a nail. So the next morning I called my Fleet Manager to let him know I needed to take care of this issue before heading out. He said that was fine and to give him a call when I was ready. I think it was around 11:00 when he called me. Gave me choice of loads to pick from. Of course I took the longer load going to Macon GA. I had to put a new set of front tires on the car. Couldn't plug it, it was to close to the edge. I drove from my house to Springfield MO, did my drop and hook and headed to Macon GA. I arrived at Bass Pro, did my drop and hook and went over to the Macon yard for the night. I was Preplanned for a Conway load the next morning going from Macon to Orlando FL but it was cancelled. I ended up going to Selma Al, picked up a load going to Kansas City MO. I was in route on US Hwy 78 in Mississippi when my Fleet Manager called. He told me they had a load that needed to get to the Bass Pro back in Macon ASAP and asked if I would switch loads with another Driver in Memphis. He didn't have enough hours to make it in time. I told him I sure will. My thought is, It takes everyone doing their part to make a business run smooth. So I did my 10 hour break as soon as I pulled into Memphis, then headed out around midnight. I arrived back at Bass Pro, did a drop and hook to an MT. About 30 minutes later my work assignment came in. I went to the south side of Macon, did another drop and hook going to Tyler TX. I made it that day to the Flying J in Villa Rica GA with an hour left on my clock. This afternoon I'm sitting at a Truck stop called Texas Best Roadhouse. I'm just a couple of miles from the receiver here in Tyler TX. This is one of the cleanest small Truck stops I've seen and I can smell the BBQ all the way out here at my truck. You know what I'm eating for dinner. I usually only buy dinner once each time I leave the house. Otherwise I eat what I bring from home. Didn't see anything out of the ordinary this time out. Well just the normal Cell-Phone crazed drivers but that's expected. A driver did pull up beside me here. I looked over and seen some kind of contraption on the passenger side of her rig. When she came back out to her truck I asked her what it was. The company Owner put this on every truck he owns. Total of 5. Their out of Boise Idaho. It was and portable air conditioner you find at Lowe's. It had an exhaust tube mounted to a sheet of plexy glass. 4 inch high and the width of the window. The water drain line run down through the floor board. It was powered with a small portable gas generator mounted behind the sleeper on top of the frame. The only Idling she does is a 5 min warm up and cool down each day. I can only guess the amount of money this Owner is saving over the course of a year. Well everyone be safe.
dennisroc and Time4Change Thank this. -
I got picked up Friday and my trainer has a small Honda generator a tank lasts about 9 hours and puts a window unit up. Dude seriously has a 0% idle.
The trip so far...
We went from Macon to myrtle beach then down to Georgetown then up to Kalamazoo Michigan we just parked at the receiver and even with the mountains were at 7.68 mpg and it's expected to get upwards of 8 but I'm shooting for an 8.5.
Good thing is that even though I'm training I get the fuel bonus on top of my base training pay.
