Dont over think it. Just know your first year will be horrible. But looking at the big picture, a year isn't much. I can stand on my head for a year (not really but you get the drift). You won't find a perfect company. Find one that fits some of your minimum requirements and go with it. If you think it wait too much or read up too much on it, you'll think yourself out of doing it. I think I know enough to know these things I just stated so I'm just diving in head first, going to be as nice as I can, learn as much as I can and shovel poop with a smile in my face for the next year. Good luck friend.
My Reaearch Has Concluded These Things.

The Force is strong with this one. Much research the padawan has done, impressed I am.
I don't know if you've ruled them out, but Schneider doesn't force teaming. They make up for it in other asinine ways, but they don't force teaming.VeganTrucker, kiwi23 and simpleman78 Thank this. -
So if your first year is going to be horrible, tell us how incredible the second year will be... lots of money right? Long nose Pete's, pick where you want to drive, pick your own home time too right?
4-8 weeks of school, 4-8 weeks with a trainer (which does suck) is a maximum of 4 months, after that its up to you how its gonna be. Money might not be great for some because of who they can get hired on with out of school. I am driving for 7 months with Crete and I am at .45 cents per mile. And Crete has the miles. So don't believe that all of your first year will be horrible and don't necessarily think you can't make money fairly quickly compared to other long term careers. Also don't believe that you have to job hop after your first year to make more money. You might like where you are at. If you have felonies and dui's on your record, then yes, it will take longer to make more because only certain companies will hire you, but if your records are good there isn't a reason you can't do well if you keep the left door closed and have a good work ethic.WingNut72 and simpleman78 Thank this. -
I think as a rule in life, paying your dues in any company when you're new sucks. No reason to think otherwise in trucking. Second year will be better because options do open. You have some miles on your log and if you are known as a good runner, I would assume that reputation follows you. Had a couple DUI's when I was a stupid kid but nothing in many years. I was a sheriffs deputy and a city cop for some time so I figure if they hire me, I'm sure I won't have any problems getting on with a good company. If I'm happy at Henderson I'll stay on. If they are living up to what I expect of a company (good miles, decent pay, etc), then I'll stay on. I have no problem being loyal and helping those who help me. They are taking a risk pulling me off the street and taking me in with no experience. A HUGE risk. That shouldn't go unnoticed. Or be free.Steel Maverick, Chinatown and kiwi23 Thank this.

Do you know if Henderson hires out of Idaho? I see that they have a western division but Idaho is not listed.Chinatown Thanks this.

Did you get any information about Midwest-coast Transport in Boise?Steel Maverick Thanks this.
-
No, I checked out their website and I don't see anything out west. I'll have to do a little more digging. Thanks
-
I'm not sure if they do nor not. Just fill out the online app and someone will call you within a day. They did me. I filled mine out yesterday and they called tonight. If they don't call you, call them. They will tell you. Good luck!

You're not an idiot; sometimes these websites are hard to navigate; not set up too well.
