Thank you all for the responses here.

So none of you have had the same thing happen to you, where one of your knees didn't react the way it was supposed to (by jumping or twitching) when the doctor thumped it with a hammer?

Thanks Buddy. I have to ask, did your doctor(s) over the years ever threaten to not pass your CDL/DOT medical exam (whatever the proper name of it is) because your knees didn't react? Or did they ever threaten to only give you a 1 year medical card instead of a 2 year medical card?

I got the 2 year medical card like I always do and the doctor didn't mention anything about the knee not reacting being something that could cause me to fail, but then again I had my left knee react and the doctor said that was good enough. I'm just wondering if this knee test thing is one of those hard pass or fail items.

I honestly never gave the knee test much thought and I didn't even know my knees were supposed to jump/twitch when the doctor thumped them. I actually just assumed that as long as it didn't hurt you then you were good and they were just testing you to see if it hurt you, not testing you to see if your knees reacted appropriately to the thump.

I like the bigger hammer suggestion.
Do the doc a favor and bring him a 5lbs sledge on your next visit.
