dont give up on driving for swift. i am on the developmental fleet out phx. just this month of march we have had 16 wrecks on our fleet as of yesterday. i waited two weeks for a truck. you have invested to much time amd energy for this hang in there. i hate this company but i finally got 3300 miles this week i must be moving up the board do to all the accidents. other compamies are just as bad so dont expect greener pastures. all bottom feeders are the same stick wit swift for now and then move on. it gets easier and evemtually works itself out. there are good people out here who will help you out. just ask. if i can do it you can do it. as far as your dm the less they talk to you the better. dms and planners are always going to be your biggest complaints.

no physical for swift you will be fine. make sure you get sent out of phoenix. that is your best bet for a truck. the only terminal that has them. the developmental fleet out here sucks a big one but at least you will get a truck. the mentor situation is bad bottom line. one of the necessary evils of all training companies and especially with the the new per hour training. you are going to starve for six weeks with maybe 200-300 a week if your lucky. welcome to trucking your going to need itt. especially here at swift... just dont quit stick it out and learn your craft...

Its funny you say no physical "its not US Xpress type" I know. I got sent home by Swift cause of High Blood pressure. I know they don't mess around with that I got it taken care of. Last time I took my BP it was 112 over 64
Yeah, I all ready found out about the new per hour training pay. IT SUCKS!!! I don't know if I can go to Phox I have someone coming with me I was hoping not to spend that much money before getting on the truck I am all ready going to be in trouble without a paycheck for two weeks.
I think I am going to try and stick it out. not sure how I am going to make it though. I have the person thats coming with me but if I get sent somewhere to pick the truck up how is that person coming with me. UGH this just got worse. I worry to much I guess -
If you have to go to Phoenix to get a truck swift will pay your way there right? I don't know about a big company like Swift, but a lot of companies you just waiting around without being proactive sends the message "hey this guy we can just leave sitting"
Squeaky wheel gets the grease is especially true in this industry. Be professional when you inquire about the status of your truck, but be insistent suggest alternatives such as sending you to recover a truck. Being too passive will kill your wallet. -
Its a funny thing you just said that cause I was just was talking to someone about being a squeaky wheel that and I called The first couple of times I was nicer and more understanding now I am getting a little upset. I was a little pushy about getting a truck. The guy on the phone pushed back though but I told him straight up I've been sitting here all most two weeks without pay. I just need to get out there. He gave me the whole if there were trucks in phoenix he would send me there BS. I know there are trucks in Phoenix thats why I am letting you know I would be willing to drive there myself in my car at my expense just to get GOING #### it. I got the same run around that I got on Wednesday. Oh maybe Wednesday or Thursday now its Oh maybe Friday or next week. if it goes into next week I will be pissed
I wasn't rude or nothing just told him straight up. The person thats coming with me said it would be cool to go to phoenix but when I suggested it he brushed it aside like it wasn't even a option.
FRUSTRATING!!!! -
Could yall expand on the per hr pay? News to me & spoke to recruiter Mon. Thx

9 dollars for driving
8 dollars for on duty not driving
so if your mentor wants to put you in the sleeper while at a shipper or consignee don't let him. you will get paid for that time there. just remember that when you go solo its CPM and you won't. so you do put yourself in the sleeper after you log about 15 mins there at the shipper consignee while at a shipper or consignee. Swift tried to screw us you can give it back to them and this is how.Its not much I have to tell you but it made a difference on my check just that little bit. I got screwed out of some money that first day my mentor drove out and had me in the sleeper all that time while I was sitting in the passage seat. You start out solo so there was no reason to have me in the sleeper all that time I didn't start to drive till the next day. My check that week was about 120 dollars if I had that extra 8 9 hours it would have been better not much but better.
Before you would get paid 400 for the first week and it would bump up at some point to 500 per week. No matter what hours your worked
-
Exactly on the weekly pay. Flat rate by week & increased as reached the 5th wk. So no pay when off duty & the above pay rate for associated activities. Realize the cpm. Keep us informed how your training pay is going..How is the mentor on assisting you?
-
oh I am finished with training and he helped me a great deal he was just a ####### both mentors I had were. The last one gave me some good things to go by though I listen to him. I would do something wrong and it would make him upset and he would take it out on me. I didn't like that to much but I got through it he was also having some kid problems at home.
I am waiting for a truck to go out solo been waiting now for all most two weeks.
your pay won't be the same each week it just depends on how much you run. like one week We sat for three days another two days. so it was different I barely made over 300 most the time it was 2 something.
with the pay before the change you got 400 a week no matter what and 500 when it went up even if you did sit you still got that pay. It SUCKS now -
Actually, it was $450/week for the first four weeks even if you were sitting in a motel while your trainer went home. It was $500/week after that. At least that's what it was a year ago when I was out with my mentor.
