I'm kinda in a bind right now. I am stuck in Georgia with no trucks to be found, and my wife's car is not running and I have $15 dollars left to my name. With only bringing in $251 in the last month my savings has been drained to keep bills up to date. I called my fleet manager and he seemed to get angry with me asking to get a rental to go home. His response was "how are you going to make money sitting at home"? I am not sure what what to do, but if my wife can't get to work we are going to sink financially.

Are you at Ellenwood? If so go in and talk with the orientation/training and see what they say. Might not get a rental car but a ride with another driver heading your way.

Ok, just took the Roehl survey through JOBehaviors. It assess's your suitability for certain careers. Note: To score the best suitability rating for Long Haul Truck Driver, you need to answer the questions with focus on customer service, rules & regs, safety, honesty, etc. (as opposed to narrowly focusing on the mechanics of driving a truck). At least when I answered in this manner I scored a maximum 5 star suitability rating! (This should be helpful information to others...as well as indicate the type of individual Roehl desires to employ.)

Whoa there Friend! Nobody was trying to steal your thread but didn't you notice the "quote" from this thread that was already being discussed? I happen to disagree with the comment that the survey was "dumb" as the poster suggested, but there have been several genuine concerns raised by potential applicants fretting over the survey. My comments were intended to put to rest any fears about it. (There's really no right or wrong answers.) Again, my advice to applicants, especially newbies w/o experience, is to think in terms of what an employer is looking for from potential employees WHO THEY ALREADY KNOW DO NOT HAVE DIRECT EXPERIENCE IN THE INDUSTRY. So I agree with you in a way ... answer honestly but in "big picture" terms and not focused on what I called "mechanics". I.e. answer from a philosophical perspective...which is what they are attempting to find out about you. Providing this information to future "survey takers" is no different than sharing a website or book title on the same subject to help applicants learn and prepare.

Btw- Hope you're able to get home to the family for Thanksgiving and sort out the family issues...then able to hit the road and enjoy your career!

Thanks, sorry I kind of went off the deep end. My fleet manager got me into a truck with a driver headed my way. I am now 20 miles from home and the in laws are headed to pick my up for some R&R. Hopefully a truck assignment will arrive soon and I can get rolling.

    Newtrucker83 and Nottoway Thank this.

Glad to hear things worked out, and good luck with your wife's car. I know what it feels like to be in that situation.
