Roehl charges $1 a week for PrePass. The advance will cost you $5 if you've been out less than 7 days.

Well first off let my start by saying, I never said Roehl was a bad company. What I am simply trying to do is tell the facts about the company. You always read how great Roehl is an I thought I'd talk about the things I don't like about the company. Everyone knows there is no such thing as a perfect trucking company, you just have to find one that you can tolerate@@!

There are plenty of worse companies to work for sure. And yes I was promised a new truck, and I ended up getting one although it probably wasnt on purpuse. I talked about that simply to show that yes, even Roehl will tell you things that are not true. I talked about the .30 a mile on regional runs for several reasons, one is that national and NE regional driving at Roehl pays .02 more per mile. Now that being said if your a regional driver other than NE region and you take a load that leaves your region you dont get those .02 cents for each mile you drive out of your region, which means yes you get ripped of at Roehl too they send regional drivers out of thier region and get it cheaper than if they had a national, or NE regional driver do it@@!

I'm not trying to ruffle feathers here, I'm simply pointing out facts I do still work for Roehl after all ya know. Its better than other comapnies Ive worked (in some ways) (and worse in others) Perfect example is take US Xpress for example, you have prepass, ezpass, sunpass, ohio credit card, indiana card, and oklahoma card and it dont cost you a dime its provided by the company. Is Roehl charging a buck a week that bad, well hell no its worth it like was stated earlier. I simply point out a fact, just like the fact that they expect you to change your fuel filter when it gets to the top mark, yet they dont provide you the wrench to change it with I bought me one 18 bux + tax, turned it in on a trip sheet and didnt get reimbursed.

Now on to the guy that said I cant drive, LMFAO when did driving become rocket science anyway? I'm not saying "everyone" could do it but come on dude dont develop that holier than though attitude, with training anyone can do it. Ive never had a service failure, late load, accident, DOT violation, log violation, or ticket so yeah apparently I can drive?

Like I said before, I simply started this post to be as informative as possible. When I started school to get my CDL I had this idea in my head about what I was getting into, then i got out of school and went to doing the job. Man was I really bummed when I found out what the job was "really" like. This post is to help people for having as big of a rude awakinging as I and probably everyone that just started did, everyone was a rookie at one time.

Roehl has good things and bad things, just like other companies, but after all I am still working for them@@! This site has talked to death why "everyone" should love to work for Roehl, I am simply saying here is what I dont like. If you can deal with the things I dont like at the company by all means come join team Roehl, but I think my post does help people considering working here be prepared, and informed as to what really this company is like.

    Thanx and keep on trucking.......

Lets see, they got the driver washing their trucks so they don't have to pay for it. They got the driver deadheading for free so they can get home to do a log restart and they pay .30 a mile but they are a great company?

Man the companies back east must really suck if this is one of the good ones.

I also think the OP brought up a excellent point about training. Companies use trainees to run teams becuase it is cheaper then finding and hiring real teams. You can't train or observe anyone while sleeping in the sleeper berth, and any company that practices this method of so called training is to be avoided by any trainee who seeks real training.

By the way I would not work for any company as an employee that had me paying one penny of their operating costs or had me maintaining their equiptment for free. My company pays me to pu and drive from point a to point b and deliver in a safe and timely manner plus do a pretrip and post trip not to lump or run a wash bay or do truck maint or to help pay expences so their trucks can operate more efficeiently.

Glad you said what I was thinking. He'll be complaining about Roehl on the next post and then be telling us what sucks at his new job. Thank god he didn't go to Swift or JB

Om my pay statements there was a deduction for EZ or PRE pass.It was clearly marked. Most of the time it was 50 cts.because I usually turned my bills in twice a week.So being on the 7 on 7 off deal.I had a ck.coming in each week.In other words I was charged $1.00 for each week I was driving.Anfd like I said before it was a buck well spent.

i have been with roehl since 01/03,no complaints not even the dollar a week.for people building this type of job up in their head when it turns out not to be what you thought it would be, its not the trucking co. faut. alot of this work is what you make out of it,which can be a good thing with a good co.behind you

My husband is a trainer......he didn't sleep while his trainee was driving for the first 5 days the trainee was on the truck. Which is the policy of Roehl. The major terminals have truck washing facilities that can be used without expense. True if you wash your truck somewhere else you pay out of pocket for it but you can use it as a deduction.

As it has been stated over and over again....no company is perfect and will not please every single driver they have. Having said that I am glad we are with Roehl and have no problem with their policies. JB Hunt reimburses you to wash your truck but I'd rather the miles and a good paycheck.

I'm glad I didn't get this whiner in my truck. I have trained a couple of OJT guys from USExpress and those weeks are pretty stressfull. They can usually drive down the interstate fine but when it's time to shift watch out. Supposedly you have previous experience, the trainer shouldn't have to babysit you the whole time. I really doubt the trainer was going to try and make it a full blown team driving situation. Roehl won't give the loads to let it happen anyways. I know, I've tried. I have let students drive 500 miles during the day then I drive 500 at night and deliver the next day. Then the next loads are 400-500 miles so there has to be a break at night. Just be glad they don't make students do the dumb and dumber training anymore.

How much hometime did you expect doing regional? This is why I try to steer students away from it. You take a cut in pay, have short runs and only are home for a short time.

It is bs that Roehl charges a dollar a week for prepass. But it is worth it, I hardly have to go thru a scale. If I can avoid messing with the dot, I will gladly pay a dollar.

As far as the fuel goes, you can go pretty much what ever way you want to go as long as its not too far out of route and you hit your fuel stops. I never had a problem changing one I didn't like either. Just talk to your regular dispatcher not night or weekend.

I don't drink as much of the company koolaid as whispers. I do have issues with some of the policies like the rider policy and all of over the top safety propaganda. But, if you can find a better company let me know.

    DrtyDiesel Thanks this.
  11. BUCKSANDDUCKS, What is your issue with the rider policy, if you don't mind?
