10-4. that's a lot of hours sitting in the cab of a truck.

See and that's the issue, I think I touched on this subject on the Estes thread, but some of these hours are not paid, they are not paying delay time, so really my wallet is not benefitting from it, I am not opposed to working the dock which would deffinetly get me paid and put those delay hours to good use, problem is though the current covid no drivers allowed on the dock policy that Saia has implemented is preventing that, and by the time this all blows over and things are back to normal, the run should be back to normal so when I get there I should be breaking a set, putting up my trailers to the dock and then immediately getting to more closed trailers hook those and be on my way with no delay at all, that's how it used to be anyway.
McUzi, Radman, MACK E-6 and 1 other person Thank this. -

i think linehaul everywhere offers a little bit of unpaid work at one point or another. fact of the matter is, we still (i do linehaul, not at saia) earn more than 95% of other company drivers. all with very generous benefit packages and typically far better work environments.
you can't run at the first sight of such, the trade off is still well worth it vs other driving jobs.McUzi, USMC 3531, truckermkh and 1 other person Thank this. -
Dont complain about the little bit of unpaid delay time. A couple weeks ago I sat in a dock for over 12hrs and only got paid $35 for it and theyre sending me back there weds morning unless things change
McUzi and Lumper Humper Thank this. -
