I’m gonna add something that I think everyone needs to know. My best friend who is 80 years old is dying from stage four lung cancer. I will be moving from Melbourne to hopefully Titusville after he passes.

I’ve heard some companies will not hire below 528 aka beeline. I’m not too sure how true this is. Maybe Chinatown can chime in. The company that’s on my list that I’ve spoke to and maybe this bit of info can help somebody. It’s called Taz transport out of Bowling Green KY. They just started a student program and hopefully somebody out of Florida or at least my area of Melbourne will be able to get on. They will not hire me until next May. Hopefully by then I can be settled in my new place.

    Chinatown Thanks this.

Sorry to hear that, we all take our turn. Not sure this is still true, but Fl. always had the worst reputation for trucking. Unless it's oranges, nothing came out of Fl. All kinds of freight came in, but almost guaranteed dead head back to Ga. You want job security, go to Publix. Even a dock job be set for life.

All we know about anyone is what they tell us. Sometimes what they tell us suggests certain things they did not tell us. Don't take it personally. Most people here are trying to help anyone that posts. If a wrong impression is given try correcting it, or ignore the opinions based on the wrong impression. Millions of people try to scam the system getting disability payments they aren't honestly due and also working a job for more money. To tired & frustrated taxpayers that looks a lot like scamming the rest of us. If you can work, work. If you can't work live on disability payments. Disability is often a trap that inevitably leads to a worse outcome than working. Nobody I know ever got disability payments and became more responsible & independent. Just the opposite, everyone else becomes an excuse for every bad feeling once they take that check. It's meant to be such a low payment nobody feels it is enough, then it becomes the most important thing in their life AND proof the country & taxpayers are no darn good and it's ok to spread the hate & misery to taxpayers in revenge.

If there is any way to work you owe it to yourself to work, not just for the money. The govt money is going to run out anyway or become worthless. It always does.

Why not call the trucking company on a telephone and ask if they hire from that area. You shouldn't tell them every difficulty & every hardship in every phone call, in case you are tempted to do that.

Maybe the company knows he lives in your area and maybe the company doesn't. If you are about to make an important life decision you owe it to yourself to be 100% certain. It's just a phone call, it's not self-surgery. Trucking requires making many phone calls to strangers. Assumptions, especially if one is somewhat different in their thinking, are not safe.

I used to carry a pet dog with me when trucking at one company. Later I wanted to move to other companies that took pets. I was told about lots of companies. Most of them didn't allow pets but drivers of other companies had seen trucks of ABC Trucking with a dog inside and ASSUMED pets were allowed in the truck, which they were not. Make the phone call & get the real answer.

    Hail to the bus driver,
    Bus driver, bus driver,
    Hail to the bus driver,
    Bus driver-man.
    He screams and he cusses,
    He rams other busses.
    Hail to the bus driver,
    Bus driver-man.

If you hate 4-wheelers, wait until you haul people who can't drive.
