So just yesterday his load was partially refused for being over what the receiver ordered. He had to sit around most of yesterday until around noon today for Stevens to tell him what to do with the overload. Fortunately, a nearby Stevens driver had to go to the Stevens yard for whatever reason and my son was able to swap loads with him. Do most of you drivers experience having to sit around with no wheels turning for over 24 hours?

No, that's rare. Never happened to me in 18 years of pulling reefers.

Junior is frustrated. We get that. Notice the posts that say something about how if he switches companies, he will run into this again? In other words, he can’t quit and run from this problem.

    What can he do?

They are sending over load info like shipping names, possibly contact info, PO/load numbers….etc. I take the travel agent out of the equation directly call shipper/reciever, set appointments, ask about hours of operation and if there’s onsite parking. My travel agent might have 40-50 drivers to look after and I only have me. I can do a much better job at time management.

I had BJ’s run their forks through a tv screen one time. They rejected it as damaged and i had to sit on it overnight to lunch time the following day before they told me to take it the local Old Dominion yard and hand it off to be returned to the shipper. This was over 20 years ago.

Yup....that happens....but I'm at home usually when it does, or on a 34 hr reset at the truck stop.

The overages does happen from time to time. I just got a whole bunch of holiday coffee creamer from this driver because Walmart refused it. The company has to wait for the shipper or broker to figure out what to do with it. Its 10 times more of a headache when its a broker load.
