LOL,nascar despite the horror stories you heard at school,a lot of which are true.We have a lot of good trainers.Good trainers do not yell at their co-drivers.Im a finish trainer myself,And I dont recall once yelling at my co-driver for anything. In my two years of training Ive never had a driver get off my truck. When drivers get off my truck that have a good understanding of what the job entails. At least enough to get them to the point where they can learn the rest as they go.Good luck to you, maybe you will get my truck on the other end.

Its been over a week now and we are getting along good. I just wish that he had a working fridge and a microwave. It sure gets expensive eating out at the truckstops every day!
We finally made it to WalMart today and I bought some canned goods so I can at least take them into a truckstop or a shipper/receiver and use a m/w to heat it up. This will help with the finances.
Also wish that we had more time for a shower. I aint used to not showering! Yuk!
Other than that I cant complain. The only things I have left to do is make a run into the NE region and bump a dock in the NE. Other than that I just neeed to complete my miles. Im around 1500 right now.
The only thing that I have had problems with is shifting. The trucks at scool have 10 spd's and the trucks on the road have 8 spd's. Its not that bad but just different shift speeds. Also in school they taught us to downshift AT the designated speed but its actually below. Im just getting this figured out.
Anyway, its going good and Im happy I made the choice to join Stevens.
Oh Frog, I'll be ready in about 4 more weeks so hold a spot for me! -
Hey Nascar, good luck with Stevens... I have my phone interview tomorrow with Stevens and this thread helps me out to know what I will be expecting. As of right now I have to choose a start day, but I will give an ample amout of time for me to shed a few pounds and allow me to train someone with my current job. Keep us updated!
nascarchuck Thanks this. -
There's always PB&J.
Don't fret. You'll be off the truck soon enough. And think...you won't have to worry about having gained weight!
Keep the baby, Faith! -
Well after countless hrs of reading and doing my homework i have found the place for me . I am headed to Dallas the week of July 4th! I just wanted to thank everyone for their post and documenting their journey with Stevens it has helped make this long process a lot less stressful

I'll be in Dallas as well however with FFE in their training. Went to Stevens back in 04, training went well espcially with learning how to double clutch and parking etc..Be careful as with any company and definitely stay on as long as possible before making the pre six month switch to another company. Best of luck going forward!

Actually FFE's school is in Ft Worth just east of downtown. Looks like a nice place.

Good luck! I hope it all works out for ya!

Well, luckily after he overheard an argument between my wife and I concerning the lack of money, he has been buying most of my meals. Tonight was the buffet at the "worlds largest truckstop" on his dime. And it was good too!
