Didnt want to start a new thread,

wondering once you get to orientation, when do you take your permit test and when do you take your driving test?

Also, is it required that you get your Hazmat when going through Steven's school...?

you will start trying the permit tests the first week there as soon as you pass the physical and drug screening

All new Stevens drivers are required to get HazMat Endorsement soon after going solo. You dont do it at the Stevens School. You want to wait till after you change your DL back to your home state. Stevens will Reimburse the full cost of getting the HazMat endorsement

I read somewhere that you still go to the DMV for the permit test, correct...?

Is this true for the driving portion as well...?

How does that work with soo many students...?

Its cool that Stevens use their own trucks at the DMV with the full 53' trailers. Some schools have very short trailers with day cabs to help their students pass. If you have been watching the TV series "American Trucker" you will have seen the type of truck that I am talking about, it's a joke.

Here is a little secret, not positive it's true, but since Stevens builds their own trailers, I've heard that the ones they use for training have the rails for the tandems attached just a little forward of the normal point, so you get less off tracking.

I have asked about it and got a very evasive answer. Plus, I ran the DPS test route three times the day before my test, failing all three times, yet the truck/trailer I used for the test I had none of the same problems in. Granted, maybe I just got all the kinks worked out the fourth time around....
