It's a saturated market so not good. I have heard some outfits are doing rounders for 1100?

Wouldn't surprise me - I am just interested in seeing what the OP is projecting as his gross revenue and how far off base he might be ...

I called a couple of brokers which were a subsidiary of large carrier XTL. And they have regular runs Dorval and other areas paying $680 oneway for Van. Which is around 340 miles.

You think you can make it off that? The trick is the Montreal to toronto rate. More loads Tor to MTL than MTL to Tor.

I'm not very knowledgeable in Canadian rates. But I'm guessing there a lot like here in the U.S. If they were great guys would be running up to Canada to make there numbers work. try to weather the storm, maybe rates will recover. Maybe they won't, it's a tough deal right now.

I have a truck parked, not making or losing any money...just getting rusted for past 4 months. Putting it with a carrier will give me more head ache then return and especially since I dont know how that carrier runs. I need to do something about this truck and sadly I cannot drive

If you're going to be running a trucking company you should learn to drive, and then try not do any driving. I think it will help with credibility with your drivers and make it easier to understand situations that may arise. Also, it helps to have yourself available for the random errand occasionally just in case, even if you do not plan on being an earning driver. If you go through a school you'll also make some contacts with your classmates and with the school who may be able to help find drivers (including older graduates with 3 years experience perhaps).

Thanks for the advice, I am in the process of getting my license. I do drive my truck (bobtail) in the yard and practising my shifting.
