This may be just me but if I'm letting somebody drive me truck then I'm setting up a recovery fund account that allows me to get my truck from anywhere in the country....whether I do it or I have to hire somebody to do it. His guy has already cost you more money than what it would cost to recover the truck. It's kind of a no brainer what you need to do
My stupid driver.

there are some misconceptions regarding unemployment just cause a guy gets fired doesn't mean he qualifies for unemployment. In fact normally it means he doesn't qualify only under special circumstances. To get unemployment firs off you have to be employed at least 6 months this guy only has less then 2 months. second off you have to have been fired through no fault of your own. employees fired for job performance issues or unreliability falls under the category of being at fault. layoffs because business is slow is a different story.
it is up to the employer if he deems unemployment is warranted. if he doesn't they will be denied but can fight it if they disagree with the decision.jerezxp7 and KANSAS TRANSIT Thank this. -
All true, I wasn't aware that he had only been there two months. Good luck with it. -
when i had the boats i fired a guy that called me up to bail him out because he got a 2 Dui's in a month. he just couldn't believe it
"your firing me cause I got drunk you drink"
"no I am firing you for calling me up at 2 am to come get you at the police station when we are suppose to go fishing"passingthru69 and cnsper Thank this. -
Just wondering, if you hired him out of PA and your company is in LA, doesn't his state where he resides dictate the terms of Unemployment insurance he can apply for?
I asked because here, like other states even if he gets fired, he can apply for unemployment - there has to be a compelling reason (legal like theft) to deny his application for it.
Here in this state even if he worked for you just two months, if he quit or got fired but was qualified for it from a previous job, he can still apply for it which the state may approve it.double yellow Thanks this. -
its always trucking when factoring in different states however if it were that easy to get on it all one would have to do is get fired and get free money. somehow I don't think its that easy. and honestly you don't really see a lot of trucking companies with claims just cause its so easy and fast to get another trucking job. im not really concerned with claims anyway because of the industry unemployment insurance is only like .05 percent because its a low risk profession and very little in the way of claims plus im trying to go more owner operators anyway eventually gonna do away with company drivers all together just too much bs and o/o have way less overhead
