No... You only run with your mentor for 240 hours. Your mentor will get paid 1 cent per mile for every mile you run in your own truck for the first year you are employed with Swift.

No mentor is going to put up with you for that long.....maybe a week or so!:biggrin_2559:

I think the experienced drivers are assigned trainers and lengths of time depending on the amount of prior experience they have. Since you've got a good number of years of prior experience, you'll probably only be on a trainer's truck long enough to learn "Swiftstuff".

actually mentors will see 1 cpm for every mile a student stays with swift AFTER 6 months. up to $120/mo max. Which, seeing how swift has such a high turnover, odds are, you'll never get close to $120/mo. So you pay for your student to be on your truck (.05 cpm...basicly paying their paycheck) then you have to wait 6 mo. to get that cent per mile.....IF the student stays with swift that long. So you really arent seeing any bennies from training except getting extra miles.

the guy i was talking to, who has a 2010 KW 900, is a trainer. When i said, "so you're a trainer...you getting 6,000 mi a week then?" and he said, "yeah i sure wish". so you do swift the favor by being a trainer, but dont see any 'reward' for it. You notice, in swift yards, the "mentors" who wear the shirt seem to have a different walk to them? LOL

Good job! Hope to hear very soon that you've completed orientation and have been assigned to a trainer's truck. Good luck!

10:30 PM and just in from Nashville... I am now a fully licensed CDL-A driver!!!!!! Everyone off the sidewalks I'm comin' through!!! Really long day but a fun conclusion to the adventure that has been the Swift Academy. Have to give a call in the morning but should be in orientation next Tuesday, then the Real Adventure begins.

So far everyone I know of from my class that has tested has passed... Congrats to them all!!!!!!
